Wobbling harmonic balancer??

OK so I FINALLY fired up the wagon!!!! It's runs SWETT!!! But I noticed the harmonic balancer & crank pulley wobble.
Total wobble is maybe 1/8"

Did I possibly seat the balance wrong? I have a supposedly "low mile" balancer from a 93 Cobra.

God I PREY the crank snout is not bent

there should be no balancer wobble at all! if the balancer & pulley wobble together you may have to check runout to be sure the crank end shaft isnt bent(unlikely unless you really beat the h%ll out of it).......can you feel the vibration from the wobble? did you have any problems installing the balancer? double check your bolts on the pulley to be sure it is truely wobbling with the balancer..........you need to check the concentricity of the shaft to see if its not wobbling with the balancer & pulley. this is the only way to diagnose the balancer/pulley or possible bent shaft ..........i have seen slight wobbles on the pulley w/o problems but not on the balancer!

Are you sure it just doesn't LOOK like the crank pulley is wobbling too. Balancers go bad all the time, so that wouldn't surprise me. There is a rubber ring in between the inside and outside portion of the balancer. If it is swelling/cracked/moving/splitting, it will cause part of the outer portion of the balancer to get cocked, and cause the wobbling you see. Look closer and determine if the crank pulley is DEFINITELY wobbling. I think the balancer can't be put on crooked because of its pressed fit.

I had a Pioneer Performance (cheap Chinese chit) balancer that came with my balanced shortblock. It was wobbling like you wouldn't believe. Turns out the morons over there (China) honed the bore of the thing when they rebuilt it. I knew something was wrong when it nearly fell off the crank snout into my hands when I removed the bolt. Anyway, this is a possibilty - I was mortified that the shop may have used a bent crank in my rebuild - but it was just the cheap balancer.
