Many pcv setups on modified engines don't work correctly due to insufficient pcv airflow volume resulting from either an incorrect pcv valve, too small hose diameter and/or insufficient engine vacuum at lower rpms.
If you have a hot cam, you'll need a pcv valve that will flow enough at the resulting lower vacuum/pressure differential levels. The other problem is where you source the vacuum, but the large port under the carb is usually enough. If you aren't seeing any coolant loss, condensation residue under the oil cap, pcv valve grommet or moisture contamination in the oil, i wouldnt worry about it.
I run a Standard Ignition brand V173 pcv valve which is calibrated for lower vacuum. I belive the application is a late 60s vette with a 427. You'll need to reset your idle speed and mixture when you change it. Most of the Ford pcv valves don't work well with lower engine vacuum. The V173 is the only one that worked well enough to keep my aftermarket EFI happy.
