I did this a little different on mine. I took the shaft out of the 60mm mustang tb and ground a little off (extending area where butterfly bolts up) to let the butterfly off the explorer shaft fit it. The explorer butterfly bolt holes lined up with the mustang shaft holes. The mustang shaft slid right in the explorer housing, I screwed the explorer butterfly to it and put the tps on. I've been using it for 9 months and it works great. Make sure you recrush the butterfly screws after reinstalling them. My explorer throttle body was off a 97. I have been told this will not work with 98 up because tps bolts up different. It should work for your 96. This only took about 30 minutes. Also grabbed pcv tube with pliers and it spun around in perfect location for stock valve cover tube. Later explorer tb do not have the pvc tube. My 97 did, I think yours will.
