Was reading a thread and someone mentioned that the 86 had forged and someone came back and said they where hypereutectic. Now I believe they had forged , but instead of getting called names like I did last time I disagreed with this guy,( and yes he was wrong in the end) I would like some other opinions on this.

The original 86 pistons were forged, but they differ from the 87-up pistons by having no valve reliefs at all, completely flat top. They have not been available as a service part from Ford for many years (replaced by the 87 style), so if you're motor has been apart before, it may have the newer pistons with valve reliefs.

Actually its not...

First off the head casting number currently on my config is E7TE, but the stockers were E5's, not the E6's. And I swear to God that on my piston tops there are only two scripts, a Ford oval, and that E6ZE... I'm sure they are forged, but was wondering where the TRW script might be.

My 87 Ho pistons have a ford oval and e6ze also. Was ford making forged pistons in 87 or was someone making them for ford?

Ford was using TRW forged pistons in there engines, untill the 93 year models. The TRW should be on the inside of the piston, on the underside of the top, it's small but it's there.

The pistons you have that say E6ZE are these flattops with no valve reliefs and dish??

Also I have cross bread alot of stuff on these cars, like 87 heads on a 86 amd even had to put a set of ported and polished 85's on a buddys 88. So that might be the source of the confussion?
If you buy it used you never know what you get.?? I bought a 84 Gt a while back and it had a 87 up engine in it, that had a crb on it??
