I have a clean white fox with a Ford blue block, blue pullies and shiny holley intake. The engine is clean but the accesories brackets look like ass. I think blue would look tacky, silver would get dirty, so maybe black or that gray metalic paint that eastman sells to paint vintage minifolds (can I buy that locally?)

Thoughs? Pics?

Thanks

A pic of your current bay would help me. Without seeing it, I would suggest satin black since it would be easy to care for. Or, if you have another color in the vehicle's color scheme such as interior color, paint it that color.

I know you said no silver/chrome but I had to throw in my 2 cents... I plan on painting all my accessory brackets with the same color... It's Duplicolor DH #1606 with ceramic (it's sometimes hard to find at the parts store...) I used it on my lower intake and am working on painting the upper whenever I replace my exhaust manifold gaskets later this month..

Stock lower intake... and painted intake.. I used an etching primer from Walmart and just the Duplicolor DH 1606 paint (no top coat)

Front of the intake in painted only.. the rest is the stock powdercoating finish.. this was before I painted the valvecovers.

This angle is to show how reflective and shiny the paint really is (valvecover).. it is pretty tough paint too..

i'll powder coat them, very reasonable prices. can do any color, i did mine in reflective chrome. i like the look i would say that or black. the brackets need to be sanded down, bare rough cast aluminum comes out kind funk with powder coat.

I'll second the powder coat. I have all mine done, intake and my valve covers. I like clean and original colors under the hood so I have my cobra upper, lower, and the water neck a ceramic chrome. All brackets are flat black and valve covers are a Ford Gray. Heres a pic where you can see em all. Everything was bead blasted, coated base and a powder clear for around $125 bux which is a still. Esp. when you don't have to touch it and it'll last 10x's what paint will last. Heres my powdercoat guy.

Also notice I painted the power steering resovoir. It looks alot better than the orange look. The overflow is coming off soon so thats why I didn't paint it.

MYLITTLEHO - Do you have any close up shots of the parts after paint?
I'll look on my computer to see if I have any better shots.. I think 99% of them were taken in the garage during a head gasket swap.. I'll see if I can't get some outdoor pics..

more pics of that Duplicolor paint.. This is 6 months after it's application.. I will probably end up pulling the valvecovers when I respray the intake and clear them with eastwood co. diamond clear.. so they will be easier to clean..

For a white car on which you want no shiny stuff, I say medium/dark gray, or flat black. Simple, clean, nice, and it'll contrast against the white of the bay.

0 vacuum leak.. the vacuum line that is cut isn't used or hooked to anything.. the stupid previous owner did a hack job of taking off the emmissions on this car. The pipe leading to the back of the head had a spark plug clamped into the hose plugging it off, the air pipe going to the cats has a spark plug plugging it also.. along with the vaccum line in the bottom picture that is resting on the air inlet pipe.. that has a SCREW shoved down into it..
