I can get my hands on a '94 dohc 4.6 out of a mark 8 for $200. It comes with all the engine accessories, tranny, engine wiring, fuse box, and computer. From searching around on the net I believe that it has a AODE tranny, I think they switched to the 4r70w in '95. Will this block have the usual 5.0 style bell housing bolt pattern? I would like to use my T-5, I don't even know if the auto trany works.

For K-members. I have read that you can swap in a a stock K-member from a modular car and it will work. Why would I buy a 4.6 to fox body swap K-member, when I would just buy the 96 and newer k-member? What is difference in the modular and not modular k-members?

I came accost a few mentions here of cutting down a stock TFI distributor, adding a 18mm socket so that the distributor runs off of the exhaust cam, then using a stock 5.0 computer and wiring harness to run the 4.6.

Anybody have some dohc in a fox pics? Thanks

Jess

The 93-96 gen 1 mark viii intake manifold has a rear mounted throttle body that will probably hit your firewall. You need a gen 2 97-98 mark viii intake manifold or a Cobra intake. I will sell you my gen 2 intake manifold for dirt cheap if you are interested. It's not quite as good as the Cobra but it can make a lot of power. My friend made over 500rwhp on his blown Mark VIII motor through the stock gen 2 intake... just let me know.

So any early 4.6 blocks that have the standard bell housing are sohc 4.6?

I was going to do this swap last year and bought a 95 with 5.0 instead. Gave the whole thing to my brother. I installed an 00 subframe and it does have to be trimmed in the back, i never finished putting the back bolts in, but it lookds like you can use a burr bitt to increase the size of the hole and the bolts will fit.

The steering rack on the newer car has a different input shaft than the fox. Borgeson makes a custom steering shaft for this application.

Bought a 96 cobra intake on the corral to fix that problem. cobra engine harness, cobra eng to car harness, cobra fuel rails, cobra imrcs. markviii imrcs have two round ports on top for each intake port cobras don't.

4.6 sohc flywheel and clutch.
99 gt computer. After sct tune pcm won't know the difference between motors and will allow anti theft bypass.

I got all my info from lxstcy on the corral.
He did the swap into a 91 fhp car and it was awesome. revved to 7500 regularly after sct tune.
He sold the car though and I don't know if he's still on the corral.

4.6 in fox

4r70w came out with intro of mark viii in 93. Early sohc towncars di have aods. I had a 91 tc with 4.6 and aod.
I got a t45 from a 99 cobra for my swap.
crossmember is different on 96-98 cars. I was planning on cutting the welds on the outer tubes of the fox crossmember to make it adjustable and move trans back. need shorter driveshaft.
As far as interior harness i dont know. I wasn't putting an interior in my car.

Lxstcy took the entire harness from a 98 cobra headlight to taillight and installed it. He had ac and everything else worked.
You can use the mark viii radiator hoses and tstat housing. I plan on putting the markviii reservoir where the battery is in the fox. Markviii cooling fan too.
the is controlled by the ccm in the cobra but I"m just going to run a relay and switch.
I'm not finished with it yet, it's on back burner till my 95 is done.
I"d like to see the pics of richard4vmods car

In theory then,
the 92 Grand Marquis/Crown Vic/Town car blocks should
have the old 5.0/5.8 bellhousing pattern.
I do remember back in the day (early 90's) at a dealership I worked at,
we found the bellhousing patterns were the same.
I was not sure when the modulars got their own "pattern",
but a good guess would be for the 93 model year.
