Say I want to buy TFS 190 11R heads for my car. Which shops check and recheck heads like the gentleman in the video? Hell, which shops port match them to the intake manifold too?

You'd have to ask a shop how common such a request is to go through a set of heads like that. I'd imagine most serious engine builders start from bare castings anyway.

I have a set of TFS170s in the box I haven't put on a motor yet. For my needs (Sunday cruising to the local coffee shop) I doubt i need to go that far.....or do I.

its simple when someone pays cheap money on a set of heads

take the heads to the shop and have them pressure tested, and guides tested

if they are good, they are good

but i am sure you will find a different story

If you're talking about Ed Curtis, we've spoken in the past. I just purchased my '88 GT a couple of weeks ago. I'm having a professional shop check it out. I was told the strut towers were the best thing about the car...lol. They are checking out the cooling system. It would overheat after 10-15 minutes of driving. Going to figure out how healthy the engine is before diving in. If it's OK, I'm probably going to top it off with an Ed Curtis cam, 11R heads, SysteMAX intake and call it a day. If the 5.0 needs to be pulled, I'm thinking "economical" coyote swap...lol.

That's him.

I am not convinced there is anything "economical" about swapping any engine that never came in a car into said car. Except for a 351W into a 302 car.
I just meant I can get a complete used '11-'14 5.0 F150 coyote engine for the price of a Dart block.

Just finished installing these on my 93 the sve heads. Haven't driven it yet waiting to get my exhaust finished. Looks like good quality I used trick flow 1.6 roller rockers and has to do some measuring for pushrod length. Not sure why the other guy is saying that you have to take an assembled head to the Machine Shop.
For some reasons, we don’t work with LMR any longer, we are not selling these head to LMR.

Friend of mine bought a set of SVE's and slapped them on his coupe. Car runs good and is pretty strong.

Because I'm paranoid, I'd probably disassemble the heads and see how the guides feel and put a better quality steam seals in it. It's not like removing valve springs on the bench is all that difficult.
LMR will not have these SVE SBF head any longer.

I bought a set of these heads as well, not installed yet. Bought them simply for the price and to flow better than stock as I plan on a turbo kit. I will say this though, I took them out of the box filled exhaust ports with throttle body cleaner and had very little leakage through 2 valves on one head and only one on the other. I left them sit over night and didn't see any leakage until the next day. I've seen vids on much better heads leaking at every valve right out of the box instantly. I'm gonna run them out of box and see what happens. If I gotta tear down and rebuild so be it I suppose
How is the head running now ?

I used 3 sets of the flotek heads. A great cylinder head for the price. Better springs, arp studs and two piece guide plates are needed though. But after that, surprised me every time.

Trickflow track heat lt headers and the magical almighty b303 cam 301hp to the wheels

312hp/321 torque after realspeed tune.

Just because it isn't popular doesn't mean anything to me.
Flotek SBF 205 ?

Has anyone ran these? Are they a good set of heads or are they junk? I know SVE is LMR house brand. They seem like they are the same as the ebay no-name brand. Or would a set of Edelbrock be better?

Yes we have inspected, flowed, ported them and have customers that's running them. Me personally I don't like them. On the surface and to the untrained eye one may say their ok but I've ported over 3 thousand parts and I can tell if something is a good deal that will last or not. We have both before and after flow results. They don't flow what the manufacturers claim (few do) and the fit, and craftsmanship is low budget.
People have to remember, you are not going to get a great quality and performing Aluminum head for nothing.
