Stripped thermostat bolt hole

I've got a new Super Victor manifold sitting here with a stripped thermostat bolt hole that I'd like to salvage...and by stripped I mean that 4 people have had their hands on it and the hole is now some off-center, oblong, butchered 3/8" or 7/16" sized hole. There isn't much meat left in the hole before it breaks into the coolant flow.

Looking on your ideas on how to salvage...here's what I thought of.

1) My first idea was to fill it with the TIG welder but the hole is pretty deep...I doubt I could get a thick enough tungsten in the hole with the filler. Also afraid of warpage.

2) Fill it with a filler...maybe epoxy mixed with some aluminum powder. Drill, tap, and use a stud.

3) Chamfer the edge of the hole, clean it up to fit a piece of round stock and just weld inside the chamfer. Then drill and tap the round stock.

What solutions have you guys used?

I would think option 3. My first thought was drill it round if at all possible, tap it, put a stainless bolt in with red loctite, cut it flush, then drill and tap into the bolt. Kinda like a custom fit heli-coil.

I put it in storage last summer after I broke it and just put another SV on till I had time to repair those one. I remember it was getting pretty thin but it's hard to gauge how much meat is really left.

I'll pull it out of storage tonight and get some pics for you guys along with a measurement.

It's gonna be a fun experiment I think.
