i was pulling around 5-6 on vacuum with my old setup, never found the problem. So i put a new custom cam , valve springs, head gaskets and intake gaskets on. Guess what still has 6 on vac. Cam card says 15.5

I cant find nothing, ive tried everything with both setups. I think its my intake but i cant find a leak on it [ typhoon intake ]

I heard a distributor stabbed right or something can cause your vacuum to be low, is that true because i just cant see how

is this an efi or carb settup?

Ive got the same intake on my notch. And i forgot to plug all the holes in it with the supplied plugs and it ran like ass.I would check all of your vacuum ports in the intake.Look the hole damn thing over cuz you probly missed one or one is leaking. And please, when you put a vacuum port or plug a hole in an intake, use pipe dope or pipe sealant. Not that damn crap teflon tape.I've talked with Aeroquip who is right down the street here and he said that the teflon tape is a lubricant and is not a sealant.

have you tried closing off vacuum lines one at a time while watching the gauge? I've seen cracked plastic vacuum trees on the firewall and bad brake boosters cause problems. Improperly de-smogged stuff can also be an issue, there is usually a line between the smog pump and a T for the cruise control. If that T isn't removed, its a big leak. Same with evap purge hoses if that system is removed but the line isn't plugged off.

Also, have you ever done a leakdown test? Last motor I had low vacuum on for no obvious reason had lots of leakage and a cam that was a tooth off.

iam gonna try to block all the lines from the intake but one and see if the vac is higher, if its not then i know its in the motor or intake and not the vac lines. motor runs great, just not much vac. i'll post back with the numbers.

i'll see if my buddy still has his leak tester. I just pulled all the valves when i put new springs in as i was doing the headgasket and cam. seemed to look good but who knows.

block all the lines off today and it still stays at 6, then i blocked the pcv and it droped to 4.
