how can you tell the difference between the convertible and hardtop motor mounts?? all the part stores in my area and giving me the same part number for the two...meaning there is No difference.... so what do I look for in convertible motor mounts??

Convertable motor mounts do have rubber in them; but have an interlocking plate system that makes them look like solid mounts. If you know what a regular mount looks like? You can see the difference when looking a 'vert motor mount.

Personally, the best mounts are the poly Energy Suspension or Prothane motor mounts.....

I am not sure what auto parts store that wildstreet is going to, but at Advance there are two separate mounts, convertable and non-convertable. I looked at both of them when I needed mounts for my 5.8 Swap. I was going to buy convertable mounts, since my car is a convertable, but after reading posts in the forum, I realized that you get the added benefit of a slight motor drop with the covertable mounts.

advanced, autozone, napa and o'reilly's ALL have that exact same motor mount as Gs Stang sent the link to the picture of... those are 2 piece motor mounts.. one metal piece bolts to the engine..sandwiched between is a rubber bushing.. on the other side of the mount is the second piece of metal that wraps around the bushing and is to just hold the bushing in place.... I am thinking that they are all standard now... cause all of the parts stores I listed only carry that one mount..... they are calling it a convertible mustang motor mount.....Now, is this the one I should get if I am wanting convertible mounts?

Not to add confusion but on that above partsamerica link the description reads:
"Front Right; Solid; Coupe; Convertible"

Are these solid?

I searched the site and they also have "Anchor" brand mounts part/#2726 and 2725. The description doesnt say convertible. They also only have a one year warranty the other one made by "Pioneer" is lifetime and cost the same.

just get them from the ford dealer there still cheap, if not as cheap as aftermarket. I believe the mounts were used on the 87-93 convertable, and the 94-95 v8 stangs. I have them on both stangs and love them . Alot less slop yet still enough vibration dampening.

mounts

Back in the day there were two separate motor mounts. The vert mounts had the interlocking plates whereas the others did not. With the Vert mounts, if you happen to destroy the rubber, you still had the plates to keep the motor from flipping up. As this was a better mount, the others were discontinued - or at least I have not seen them in some time. Ford put them on all their 5.0's starting in 94. My friend's fox hatch had the non-vert mounts and he had no problem switching to the Vert mounts. He recommended them. It appears the aftermarket companies use that design as well.
