this setup worked really well for me so far. the coils were mounted close together on the drivers side simply to make sure we weren't hitting the brake booster when I go to a 9.5 deck one day.. clears with no spacer, but I'll run the spacer anyway if my hood allows.

Since i'm also using a nice set of black finned Ford Racing valve covers, i'd rather not mount the coils to the valve covers.

It's a great idea, but I just don't think I could pull them off with a set of these...which I do want to keep

Sorry, I forgot to attach the link. Here you go: Chevy GMC Coil Bracket Set Vortec LS1 LSX Engines 4.8 5.3 5.7 6.0 97-05 | eBay. Keep in mind, this is the company that makes them. Make sure you specify LQ9 truck coil brackets (they are not the ones in the link picture). Hope this helps..
