Hey I need some direction here, I'm trying to do a swap on a '98 GT and I was thinking of purchasing the longblock from MMR, does anyone have any comments or has anyone purchased an engine from MMR before? I would really appreciate the heads up, and if there's anyone else that might be worth looking at, please comment.

Thanks in advance

We would consider ourself to be great!!

But on a serious note we are rated by the BBB with a A+, most of our competitors have a failing grade. We pride ourselsves on customer service and building great engines. Every MMR shortblock and Longblock include a extensive 1 year warranty and MMR goes a step further because we know our customers and understand stuff happens so since 2009 even if you hurt a MMR engine through a tuning problem or run it out of oil we cover the labor 100% (during the first year), the customer in such a case would just be responsible for the parts that were damaged!

Please let us know how we can help!

IMHO They are GREAT i have there motor as well as there parts in my car. I also have sold 6 other motors for them to my buddys because i was happy with mine. And all of them love theres. 4 of them are making 700+RWHP.

Mark is very good at standing behind his parts. Example My buddys turbo car lost a MMR motor DUE TO HIS TURBO SPIKING TO 30+psi. Even though it was not MMRs Fault they help out alot to get him his motor fixed....

AA+++ in my Book..........

FYI Is hard to post something like this. Some love them and some hate them. You will end up with mixed feeling. That how all these threads end up

MMRs helpful and responsible posts and feedback on their stuff have convinced me that if I need yet another motor, I will go with them.

Use someone local. Or at least closer, shipping gets expensive to Cali.

Maybe MMR has turned themselves around because in 2009 they were only a C+ company. Good luck.

google.com

"MMR oil pump."

enough said.

I have not been satisfied with the two transactions I had with them. A MMR windage tray that turned out to be a reboxed and price increased Canton, by the way which didn't even fit flush and needed work, and a reboxed and price increased intake manifold spacer from Kar Kraft.

I'm sure they have many satisfied customers, but I wasn't one of them. If it's a Canton product, all you have to say to me is we're a Canton dealer, it's a Canton windage tray. I probably wouldn't be so mad at MMR about the fitment issue then, either.

The constant comparisons to their gutted, ten bajillion, five second, absolutely-nothing-stock-and-in-most-ways-not-even-representing-a-Mustang shop car get annoying fast as well. Making a set of valves that work in a 2000HP racecar and making a set of valves that work every day, on the street, at 600HP and quietly, without maintenance, without headache, are two completely different tasks. But don't tell them that, because those valves take 2000HP abuse, and if they work in our 2000HP race car, they must work in everything.

With the internet today you can find something bad about any company if you dig deep enough. MMR has been in business longer than all of its competitors and has seen the others come and go. Unhappy customers do us no good and its unfortunate to hear that some people are unhappy with us, in business you cannot make everyone happy but we sure will try. Are we perfect? - by any means NO! We are human just like our customers on the other end of the phone. We employ many people and mistakes can be made. We come from a humble begining and to this day have the same business goal, build great engines and parts at a great price and do our best to keep our customers happy in the process. If someone is unhappy I would like to know about it to make it right and to possibly save the next customer trouble.

While online I would like to say thank you to all of our online customers, we apreciate your business and without you we would not be here!

Good response, for me at least. I know what kind of shoes you sit in, and to be honest, my post was to try and see what kind of response I could evoke. I worked for an aftermarket performance company. I left because I disagreed with their practices and how they treated people, it bothered me that much. While I was there, I tried to treat people 100% honest and fair, even if others in the building, outside my control, did not. I understand what you mean by you get lots of different employees, and even the good ones make mistakes, and even when you do everything right you get some customers that are complete ####ing ######## and no matter what you do from the outset you are ####ed. They want everything for free, yesterday, installed, and cold beer. They are the stupidest ####s on the planet, do everything you tell them not to do, and use the car in a completely different way than you built.

So I guess I owe you this:
My honest opinion of MMR is that their oil pumps suck giant dick. If I had a dollar for every one that I've seen take out an insanely expensive Modular motor I'd be a rich man. And I mean first hand, not read about online. Maybe it was a bad batch - maybe it was problem in shipping - maybe it was just a giant stupid investment into a part FRPP made right in the first place that didn't need approval.
OTHER THAN THE OIL PUMPS, from EVERYTHING I've seen from them, I have no legitimate complaints. I do know a lot of people are very satisfied with built short/long blocks from them.

Considering one bad decision to endorse/manufacture/distribute one product in a few years of existence, that's not too shabby. I wish the place I worked for had the same track record.

the few times i have dealt with MMR they have been fine, ESP my dealings with Mark directly. Given, sometimes the guys on the phone seem to know less than i think they should given their job... so IMHO they could have better tech.
But Mark's service to me has been outstanding. He will continue to have my business based on the way he has treated me and some of my peers.

That said, i have two built motors... one is still with Al Papitto and John Tymensky just built me another one. I hold both of those guys in extremely high reguard, and seeing that Al is in florida already with you id probably give him a shout.

I got my rotating assembly from MMR and couldn't be happier...super fast shipping. I payed the money to have them balance the assembly before it left their shop. Even with doing that they had my stuff out the door within a week. Prices aren't too bad either...could be cheaper on some things.

On another note...some people get annoyed by their constant posting in here. Calling it spamming and whatnot. While others see it as helpful...they always answer the questions people ask and don't ask for a credit card number in return. Call around to a few machine shops and see if they are that courteous. Even while being bashed they uphold a professional standard and that IMO is hard to do these days with the internet and all. So I give props to MMR for being mature...even when others are not.

WOW! Thanks for your input fellas.

ARCANGL you posted that you have an engine with Al papito, is this your first engine with him, have you delt with him before? Someone else recommended me to him and since I live in Florida it would be much closer than MMR. Could you give a website where I can contact Al Papito?

BirdMan941 yes, this would be my only post since I just joined today, but thanks for the input. I don't work for MMR if that's what you are implying.

I'm just trying to shop around like an educated customer that's all.

They built my shortblock. I haven't got the long-block back together yet or fired the engine but they treated me very well when I dealt with them on the telephone and the shortblock was a very competitively price. We'll see how it runs, I suppose. I'm confident everything will be perfectly fine, though.

My one and only frustration with my dealings with MMR was trying to get the build sheet for my shortblock. Typically they're sent with the engine when it is shipped, but I was told whoever makes them for them was sick when mine went out. Instead I got a piece of paper with my shortblock stating the build sheet would come within the next week via USPS. Weeks and weeks went by, and 5-phone calls to MMR later with me asking where it was at it finally showed up in my mailbox. I can understand being busy, and I can understand mis-communication between people but when I was told every time it would go out that day and I had still had to call them on 5 separate occassions... that's frustrating.

In my limited dealings with MMR i was not happy with the product i recieved. I bought a set of IMRC Deletes from them and they are beautiful except for the fact that they overlook small details. They have no holes for the pins on the gaskets also the dimenions are not exact when compared to the OEM ford imrcs. I am now hesitant to install them after talking with other people that have done it themselves. On the website it says its a bolt on part. When modification is required to get the part to fit correctly i dont know about anyone else but i do not consider that a bolt on.

Apparently they have resolved these issues in later production runs but that does not help me who paid a pretty penny for these chunks of billet aluminum.

tbird46202: yes they are beautiful as you stated and have had some revisions since you purchsed yours a while back. If they are still new and un-installed please send them back to us and we will exchange them with our most recent version that was released last year as a courtesy. The core of motorsports is about testing, development and improvement, most of our customers loved the IMRC version you had but we felt we could make it better from input from our customers and racers so we did, does it mean the previous version was no good.. DEFINITELY NOT.

Customer service is very important to us and we want you to be happy!

MMR was kind enough to read some of my posts long ago when I was trying to figure out details on my 03 to 98 swap that they offered to weld in a 2nd bung on my coolant crossover for free.

Since then I've bought a few small items but at the time I wasn't even a paying customer. They did a great job with it. That offer and work went a long way towards showing me that they're a vendor who truly appreciate the projects that we the enthusiasts work on.

I always enjoy reading about new products they come up with and I enjoy reading (and watching videos) about their huge hp race cars.

I wish all vendors were as involved (and polite!) in the forums as they are. I hope I never have a need to buy a short block but if I do, they will be at the top of my list when I'm considering options.

I know there are other vendors that have legendary reputations for building fast motors, but my personal experience with one of them was that I couldn't get a return email/call. Mark on the other hand answers his phone and returns calls.

Lastly, I really appreciate the fact that they sponsor the site. This site has been around for a while now and Chris I. has put a lot of time and dedication into it and it's great to see a company that's willing to put some money down to help keep it going.

Im currently putting together my MOD900 5.4 i got from MMR along with some of their other parts. I still havn't ran the motor but everything look great. Their service was great as well. I called several times before ordering and they remembered who i was within weeks of my calls. I will gladly post up on how the motor runs.

i also want to touch on the matter of business. I own a restaurant and deal with many people on a daily basis. There are some people who just like to bitch. There are some people who are ALWAYS looking to get something for nothing. Then there are the people who are just plain outright A**HOLES and will NEVER be satisfied with anything let alone happy!!!!! I can't stress this issue enough.

Everybody seems to think they know how to run a business and wants to tell you what you should do and blah blah. But they don't think of the little things that a business owner does. Every decision you make affects other things in your operation!!! Im all for helping the little and local guy, but sometimes you have to go with the bigger and farther guy.

One more thing, their not , their advertising! They pay for it so why shouldn't they utilize their investment. They often chime in and help people out with info and advise them in what to do. There are new members joining Corral every day so advertising has to continuously keep repeating..
