Hi guys,

Told you a couple of weeks ago about doing some dyno testing for Air Flow Research and it is finally built and on the dyno. 408W, AFR 205, 8019 springs and going to try the Holley Hi ram and Super Victor with EFI and carb if we get enough time. Also going to test 2 or 3 cams with duration in the 240,252,256 and lift in the 600 range. This will all be done on Cali 91 octane and might try some E85, we shall see how well the equal runner intake does. Should have videos by this weekend.

My only "objection" to the Box-R is my stock-hood preference - posting this for those who have similar concerns (or just need to know how tall a cowl is needed.)

Hi-Ram is 11.4", but the height is forward, so it makes it worse.

Holley 300-242 Hi-Ram = 11.41"

Supervic + 3848 elbow = 11.29" + gasket.

TFS Box R (5L - lower = 4.625") = 12.25" (peak)

TFS Box R (5.8L - lower = 5.375") = ~13"

The thinner spacer can gain a TFS-R up to 3/4"? (not sure and disty clearance becomes an issue at 1/2")

Note the "Box-R" like the Hi-Ram has it's height pretty far forward, which can be an issue.

From this Corral thread (this is a 5L - credit SLO 5-OH):

I have a 2.5" cowl hood and the Box-R wouldn't clear with the 1" adapter flange. I had a 3/16" adapter flange made for my 9.5", which is about as thin as you can get and it clears the distributor fine. The limit on an 8.2" is about 1/2" before you run into interference with the distributor, I think. I can have more made if anyone is interested: Trick Flow Box-R Flange Plate Order Form

FYI, BLUE351 makes a really nice custom plenum spacer for the Box R. I haven’t installed mine yet, but it looks like a great piece!!

With my Box R and a Boss Inc 2.5” hood it clears great except for the very back. It doesn’t clear by about 1/8”. But all is solved with BLUE351’s custom spacer.

Hi guys, apologies for the delay but trying to take care of customers while doing cam and intake swaps and video is time consuming. Now we are being asked to test a carb for those who refuse to go EFI so that will be another test. Here is my ugly mug getting you actual data, we were not paid a dime for this, though we wish we were...

Great job and thanks for taking the time! A couple of questions - what lifters were you using and I presume the dyno water pump was circulating coolant?

Thanks again!
