I’ve been fighting cooling issues now that temps are rising it’s more noticeable

I looked into the champion radiators. One thing that stuck with me was a buyer mentioned that the aluminum is thin and dents easy. I’m not sure I’d be comfortable with the expansion and contraction of thin aluminum around my radiator. Even the b-cool radiator that came on the car when I bought it was suffering from cracks and fractures when I finally took it out. Maybe I’m overthinking it as I’m sure this radiator has worked well for many other people.

I ended up getting the mishimoto for some added peace of mind. Better warranty too
Champion radiators are fine. They come with a limited lifetime warranty.

I’ve wondered about the actual cfm ratings of the aftermarket “contour” fans.

My favorite is the 94-98 sn95 fans you can get at the junkyard. There are tons of them out there, are 2 speed, and fit a fox radiator perfectly with zero trimming. Best thing is to weld couple pieces of aluminum round stock with drilled and tapped holes to mount them. You end up with one of the baddest $25 fans you can get.
I wish the SN fan cooled my last two 347's but it didn't even come close here in Phx. As soon as I turned on the AC in traffic; the temps skyrocketed.

Back several years ago, I dropped a built 351W into a 63 Austin Healy. Because of the severely limited available room for a radiator we had a custom copper/brass radiator made. 7rows, staggered. We only had room for one 15" dia electric fan. We boxed in the entire front grill area to force all air flow coming through the grill to go through the radiator. Had no issues cooling that engine. Radiator was only 17" wide and about 22' tall, but with 7 staggered rows, it was at least 6" thick.
That's crazy.

lmr makes a great contour mounting set up. little pricey. can do without the catch can.

im sure aftermarket contour fans will do the job. oem is hard to get an expensive.

most people forget about proper wiring and that can affect voltage on a fan that pulls amps. i think contour fans came standard with 8g.

I wire them via relay/fuse with 10g wire. I run mine on high speed only. I also upgrade the factory ground and power cables to 1/0 in the engine bay. I drop the 'fan on' temp in the tune.

i actually just ordered the last radiator from summit. made by cold case. big 2 row. 1" tubing.

I was looking at the fluidyne. thats 3 rows with 5/8 tubing.

i ordered both. hopefully the cold case on will fit with my 408 and Vortech pulley. and im running oem contour fans.

That's what's nice about the SN cars. Plenty of room in there.

CHAMPION RADIATORS ARE GARBAGE!!!!

2 reasons:

1) I put one on my STOCK 5.0 Mustang GT that I barely drove. It was my "spare" driver car. I put maybe 3000 miles on the car in 6 mos. Then the radiator started leaking top left corner where the cross tubes are pressed into the side tanks. I took it to a trusted local radiator shop for a quick fix. They said "They ALL do that" when the tubes are only pressed into the side tanks. And with normal road vibrations, they move around and eventually loosen at the junction point.

"High quality radiators have the cross flow tubes welded to the side tanks."

2) I called the 1-800 number back in 2017 to use their "Lifetime Warranty" free replacement. The woman took my info and said she'd call me back. She never did.

So much for their phony balogney warranty!!!

Who would want more Chinese crap that's just going to get the same separation/leak problem in another 6 months anyway!?

I've had great experiences with Champion as have thousands of others. I'm sorry that you had a bad experience. I had to warranty one Champion due to poor fitment. The lady had me take pics and measurements. She then put me in touch with the fab guy. Sure enough; the jig had lost it's tolerance. They sent me a new radiator and even upgraded it to the polished unit for free. I was able to keep the original one, which I fixed and sold.
The reason that many earlier Mustangs have tank separation is largely due to the factory mounting. These are unibody cars and they twist. The twist takes it's tole on radiators. This is why the radiators are mounted in rubber on all 4 corners. It helps but that rubber get hard over time and loses it's flex. Mishimoto has come up with a solution. I've never tried them but read the description.
Aluminum Radiator Stay Set, for Ford Mustang 1994-1996

that is why i gave you the answer

you only now need to solve the simple equations, for

gpm
cfm
coef of heat trans Q

to get a good ball park figure on what you need

I've had 2 Champions, one being their American Eagle brand. Both worked great with a preference towards the American Eagle AE1422 model.

Here's a pic of Ron Davis tubes:

Those arent the ron davis tubes in my rad, they are extruded and look like this below, technically it would make it like an 8 row radiator. Thats the technology f1, nascar, baja, etc are using. C&R also have the same design.

Yikes!!! That's why the Ford engineers make the big bucks. The cost of equipment just to measure those parameters are beyond my budget.

I have been second guessing why I need to use anything other than the factory cooling system. I'm boosting a stock bottom end/cam so the hp won't be that much higher than stock with heads and intake. The only time the engine will see elevated coolant temps is when the engine sees boost. Short burst of boost shouldn't be a problem. Who knows?

What's wrong with Fluidyne?

They're made in North Carolina. Mine handled 450HP supercharged 306 and currently 630HP 428w.
