as the title says. I was going to go with a street only suspension but than I went to the strip a couple of times and now Im hooked so what is the best set up on a limited budget for suspension or something I could do in parts.

Damn man, I have been thinking about the same thing for the past couple weeks. I am super fed up with my SuperSport springs and Bilstien shocks/struts... Very harsh ride, I'm sure its cause of the springs not the Bilstiens.

I want a set up that is gonna shine at the track, weight trasferring, hooking, the works... I want it to work on the street also, softer ride then what I have now....

i'm not done setting mine up...but as for current setup, mods in sig w/ 1 coil-cut gt coupe rear springs, 275 bfg drag radials, stock 3.27 solid axle i've cut a best of 1.87 60'....and i don't think the tires were very good at the time...now i have ET streets, i'm hoping for low 1.8 or high 1.7 60's....i still need subframe connectors, and drag struts and i should be good...
i want to see how low i can get my 60' on stock gears....

adjustable shocks and struts. tokiko and konis are very nice but high dollar. the strange (adjustable) struts and shocks are a lot cheaper. i've used them for a couple months now. seem to be real good quality. i'm happy. rear control arms are a must. many brands. i'd suggest to get adjustable arms. j and m engineering have adjustable ride height lowers and adj uppers. they are almost identical to the steedas, but alot cheaper also. as far as springs, if coil overs are to much, then go with a set setup for street/strip (MM, steeda, griggs, many brands). subframe connecters are a must also.

So would a rear coil over setup be the best to go with, price being secondary? Right now no subs, X2C upper and lower control arms, H&R Supersport springs and Bilstien shocks is my setup.... Not been to the track in a while but want to get more serious with it....

Ditto on the adjustable uppers and lowers and some good strut/shocks/spring combo.. i used the bilstein kit on my 89 and it still does a 1.77 w/dr, got the motosport kit on the cobra w/5300c's, still need shocks/struts tho, I just cant seem to drive it like I hate it so 2.02 best 60.

I have the following..

Front:
Tokico Illumina Adjustable Drag Struts
4cyl Springs
MM CC plates
No sway bar (can easily be installed and removed)

Rear:
Tokico Illumina Adjustable Shocks
Steeda dbl. Adjustable Upper Control Arm
Megabite Jr. Lower Control Arm
Bullitt springs

Driving around town with the fronts at firm is easily streetable with or without the front sway bar.. However, the sway bar is recommended if you don't want excessive body roll. I do not run mine on the street.

In street trim the weight transfer is awesome.. In fact I pulled the left front tire (stock 17x8 wheel/tire) off the ground in street trim with front struts at full soft and 17' Nittos out back (best 60' is 1.72).

I made a few passes with the Slicks and Skinnies and cut a 1.58 60'.. To bad the clutch wouldn't let me go much past 1st gear...

Anyhow.. I love the setup I have.. I can't wait to dial it in this year.

I would check out the FMS B springs....Subtle yet noticable drop and excellent ride....very much soft like. And they are only around $139 a set. Several companies including Steeda and Kenny Brown retag these and sell them. excellent spring. I am currently running QA1 adjustable shocks and struts but Tokicos will also give you an excellent ride. X2C or JDs Performance control arms will work great in an occasionally raced car. My car ran high 1.5/low 1.6 60 foots NA with these springs. Here are 2 recent pics with the B springs and 18s

I could'nt agree with Bill more. I ordered a set of Paul's HP Sport Lowering Springs 4 years ago and never looked back... until my car was running consistant. After this I said why does everybodys car look so cool pulling the front wheels and mine just leaves the line quickly and dose'nt look like much. I figured it was because of the lowering springs. So I wanted to know what kind of springs I actually bought from Paul's HP. So I called Paul and he told me thier SPECIAL springs. I laughed and said ok. So I called a tech from FRPP and gave him the tag #'s. He said you have "B" Springs in the rear but I can't tell you what you have in the front so I called around all over the place and still could'nt find out. I guess the fronts were special.

The ride quality of my car is excellent with these springs. I also use the Tokicko's 5 way shocks and 5 way Drag struts with steeda adj. uppers and fixed lowers with black bushings. Now you say how are they at the track well how does mid 1.5 60 ft's sound with a best of 1.51. The car dropped .75" in the back and 1.5" in the front. After talking to people and beating my self up about getting new springs for drag racing I've decided to leave it alone because I will probably lose E/T if I get loose springs that will make my front end want to rise and waste energy going up that should be used to go forward. Price paid for PHP Sport Springs $189 plus shipping. Doing the suspension right the first time on accident is priceless. When something works well leave it alone.

Quick snake how much did the b springs lower the car I am going to have 17inch wheel and where is the best place to get these?

SVT CAMR So If I combine the b spring with the Tokico shocks and drag struts I will basically have your setup? Do you think the b springs are the best all around or Pauls "Special Springs" Are better. Also once I drop the car I will need caster camber plates correct? You are using what model steeda control arms? there are several now.

Quick Snake by the way nice looking car.

Steeda HD Adjustable Uppers & Steeda Aluminum lowers (fixed) all with Black bushing for slicks but fine on the street. The red ones are softer for street use and also work with slicks (get the black ones made for slicks)
Yes CC plates Get the maximum motor sports from what I hear they are the best.
Are the "B" springs the best? I don't know about the best but they worked for me out back. While lowering the snake .75" in the back. Thats just what came in the PHP kit. Make sure you ask him if the springs are still the same and what you are getting if you go with PHP. I don't know how "B" springs would be in the front because i don't have them up front. You will have to ask Quick Snake.

Oh yeah I forgot don't forget the offset rack bushings. I used all the stock isolators.

is that part number 5300-B for the b springs says it lowers 1 1/8 in front and 3/4 in rear is that about what you noticed?

How about bumpsteer Kit
Extended ball joint kit

Are the ford racing ones just as good as the Steeda ones because they are a lot cheaper at diversified.

Where is the cheapest place to get the tokicos

Also when I do the springs should I get some spring isolators or are the stock ones fine?

Also are steeda caster camber plates as good as MMs

Sorry I just want to do this right the first time.

Yes get the B springs from Diversified. They should be around $139 ish now. They will lower the car slightly more than than once they settle. I have had mine for 3 years now and they are still great. I also ran the Tokico setup that Danny has for a couple years and that worked great as well. You do not NEED CC plates with B springs but they are a good idea. Thanks for the compliment on the car....Good luck

Are the B springs 4 or 6 cyl springs or just plain lowering springs? Are the right spring choice the most important part in a good launch or a combination of all the parts?

How streetable are all of your setups also?

This is an excellent thread.. Up until know I had never heard of B springs..

My 4cyl fronts seem to be great but I will definitely keep this in mind as well.

Does anyone know the specifics on the B springs.. Like the spring rates etc?

They are very similiar in rate and ride quality to stock Cobra springs, just lower. IMHO the perfect spring for a car that sees a lot of street miles yet still wants to kick some a$$ at the track. I drive my car EVERYWHERE with my set up. I love having the lowered, not slammed look and I can still clear speed bumps :)

Quick...

I'm definitely interested in these springs... How is the handling without the sway bar installed? If you have driven your car like that on the street?

I wonder what the spring rates are for my 4cyl springs?... I like the setup I have now, but it seems like this might be a better route since it's a combo of street and strip..
