Thanks for the offer. I'm sure I will be up there asking more questions. I'll probably be up there Monday to see if Oppie (sp) picked up the heads from the machine shop and to see if he found the model number for his wolverine cam.

I came out to the PCA event (only took me an hour and 45 minutes to find Jefferson City - but it was a nice drive). However, there were only a handful of cars, and hardly anyone was around. So I left after a brief cruise through the parking lot.
You must have gotten there around noon. We took a break for lunch before running the second two groups of cars. There were over 40 people who registered. 2k2GT put on the best showing with a close followup by gkidd. I think they threatened to kick Tony out after his HUGE DOUGHNUT in the middle of the course. His second pass was a little more reserved. :D I should have some pictures up later today or tonight for everyone's viewing. Gary's (I think it's Gary) cobra sounded cool as crap with the blower screaming while he was on the course.

The festarossa made his auto-x debut and I was suprised at how well he did.

I went to 411 yesterday. The best I could run was a 8.68. With another one a 8.77. My best run was at 84.??? Still could only manage a 2.11 60'. I did how ever hit a 2.08 60'. I guess I just need to keep going, and pratice more. My God was it hot. I know that wasn't helping any. If anyone is ging to go to the track anytime soon, let me know. I might have to take a saturday night off, so I can run in the cooler temperatures. How is the plan for the dyno day coming along, are we going to have it? Let me know.

Well, went to 411 to disappointment yet again... Michael, sorry I missed you on Sat morning. Ended up spending time with Shannon.

Well, I did worse. Best I could do was 9.5. I tried shifting at 6k, 6200 (hit the limited) and 5800. Lowered tire pressure to 22psi and was launching off of idle-1500rpms. Best thing about the day was I greatly improved my reaction times. As most of you know, the "No Parking in Staging Lanes" sign was put up because of me... But this time, I was hitting .042, .060, .137 etc... Much better. Best 60 foot was still 2.26.

I can't wait to dyno this thing and tune it some more.

Anyone ever bondo fiberglass? Bob and I took my glass hood off of the other car and leaned it up against the house and hit it with about 3 1/2 cans of Aircraft cleaner/stripper. Got most of the red off. Now most of it is gray, however it looks like some of the gel coating is coming off. Don't know if that was there and hidden by the paint or if the Aircraft stripper took it off. Anyhow, I think I'm going to take to sanding it smooth now. Anyone care to comment on which grit to start with? 80? 150?

Thanks

Anyone know of a better cheap sway bar setup for a Fox?
Will the rear bar on the sn-95 up cobra's fit? It's my understanding thay are quite a bit stiffer and light to boot. I've been lurking on corner-carvers, but I keep running into that pesky old math stuff..

Also, anyone got some cheap ponies or 4 lug Cobra R's for sale?

Regarding sanding your fiberglass hood: Don't sand through the gelcoat, because it is raw fiberglass underneath. The only time I use 80 grit is if I'm sanding down to bare metal, because it leaves a lot of scratches that can be hard to find and fill.

Just remove all the loose stuff and feather the edges out. Then start filling the low spots with bondo. For added strength, you can use the fiberglass reinforced bondo, just remember it is a lot harder than regular bondo. Just use that 150 grit. The aircraft stripper probably pulled the gelcoat off.

Richard gave you good counsel. Stay light on any edges - real easy to get through the gel coat there. You could probable use 220 wet to start with. Use a sanding block and a can of black Krylon misted on to find your high/low spots. The paint on the hood is VERY noticeable, so if you use filler and sand with your bare hands, it's likely to look surfable.

What gear is in your car?

Richard/Michael, thanks for the advice. I think the gel coat came off in spots, so, I can use fiberglass bondo there? I'll go easy on the sanding. I'll definitely use a block. Made that mistake before.

Michael, 3.73s.

I am getting ready to rebuild my 302. 2 questions:
what is the best, and most reasonably priced machine shop in the area?

and what is the highest compression ratio I can safely run with a supercharger around 9psi?

thanks,
Eddie

I found a car. White 96 GT, stock other than Flowmaster exhaust, black leather, 5 speed, 66k miles, original owner, etc. $5000 College friend of mine bought the car new and wants to move on. Going to pick it up one day this week.

I didn't go to the autox or anything else this weekend. I was doing some work standing on the tailgate of a truck Friday evening and the cable that supports it broke, sending me tumbling to the ground. I didn't feel like going anywhere or doing anything on Saturday after that happened.

Dyno day?

Yeah, what is the word on the dyno day? Does it look like it is going to happen? Also, was there somebody local that can tune? I've never had the car tuned or dynoed before so I'm a newb for all of that stuff. Let me know what the plans are.

Yeah, I'm ok. Just had some bad luck. Fortunately I had set the chain saw down before the cable broke. At the time it seemed much safer than a ladder. My arm hurts and so does my back, but it is getting better

Ok, guys I've dropped the ball long enuff,I "hereby solemnly swear" I will call about the dyno tomorrow! I'm going to try to get it the first Sat. in Sept. I meant to do it today but spent all day calling BBK names for their ill fitting L/T headers for the mod motors! For all you guys needing tunes give me a yell at the shop,866-395 FAST I have most of the Autologic computer families now except for the '96-98's & the '01's.I have all the 5.0's except speed density, incl.Cobra's & have the families for the '03 Cobra's if you know anybody who has one of those,2 should be coming to the dyno w/h me that day. we shopuld have a good day as long as the 'ol Fords hold together! I'll let you guys know one way or the other tomorrow.Scott

Scott - read Eddie's (rednels) post a few posts up; he needs some counsel and I think you're probably pretty well versed in what he's asking about.

Eddie - was gonna post and see if you're still alive out there. I suspect your compression ratio question is also a function of whether or not you're going to be intercooled and how you're managing timing/mixture. You may want to let Scott know that so he can coach you.

Jeff - hope you're feeling better - you and Camie are gonna need a nurse over there if you're not careful!

Eddie, most of the supercharger applications I have seen do the ~8.5-9 compression. But I am not well versed in that. Maybe a good starting point for info.

Well today was a good and bad day on the 85. The lifter clack I had developed turned out to be a bent baffle being contacted by a rocker. The ol' ball peen hammer helped that one out. While I was doing that I smelled antifreeze. The tank on the passenger side developed a leak. Now if it can hold out 3 more days I can get it down to a radiator shop and have it cleaned and recoated.

Michael, checked the timing today. it was at 18* initial. whoa!! no wonder it was pinging. set it back to 14* and hopefully that will stay. I also upped the idle for the a/c.
