Some might find it interesting to follow the competition and see the results. Maybe someone on here will participate? Ed?

Since noone else did mentioned it..... I thought it was on time.

Not interested in supplying "clicks" for such a lame deal. That stupid LS camshaft "test" clearly showed how flawed these click-bait tests really are. Then again, he made money on the views and selling his "book".

Besides, one of the guys I provide custom camshafts to, already has the data on this stuff so if he won, people would cry foul and if he didn't, the same cucks would say the design sucked. A total no win for anyone, other than the BoobTuber.

/awaiting the guttersnipes

I’m following no internet- heroes or youtubers. However, if I sat on knowledge that made me think I could win, I’d compete.
Even if it generates some cash or followers for a poor youtuber.
But yeah- prefer the good ol’ Engine master & Carb competitons. For sure. If I had more resources, and a bit more brains, I’d enter.

No problem with Erik doing a test like this with his own and donor money. That is a potentially smart business move.

My issue is the people who try to make it more than it is. Following it as if it will lead to some esoteric knowledge of the internal combustion engine. I think there are still people over on another site trying to plug-in various numbers to find some kind of meaningful data from the LS cam challenge.

That has been the problem with the internet car sites from the beginning. Lots of big egos and loudmouths that are emotionally attached to the way a car runs. The LS guys were always the best to get riled up. The Incon twin turbo guys that were on here were just as bad.

Too bad, Zach was in a position where the only sensible thing was to remove himself from the competition.

There is a part of me that thinks it would be hilarious to hire Ed Curtis to do a custom camshaft. Then act like I came up with it. Only to come clean later and see the response from some of the haters 😂

I think the entertainment aspect of it could be fun, and maybe even instructive in a way or two.

15 years ago I was going to build a 427" Windsor with TFS 240 hi ports, or a set of C302B heads I have. I spec'd out a cam, with using 1.7 rockers. ... Other priorities, and life got in the way.

I figured if I entered the competition, then Eric could run my cam against 14 other or so, and I'd know how "smart" or "dumb" my cam choice would be. His flow numbers might have me changing the intake lobe, but it's still going to be in the same neighborhood, but I'll certainly be doing something different with the exhaust lobe I would not have done 15 years ago.

We'll see how it goes.

So are you saying you did enter?

I like Eric W.'s videos, and how he explains his processes. I've talked to him a few times, and he has done some quality work for me. He is extremely knowledgeable and I wish him the best of luck! I've also got a really cool cam from Ed Curtis ("B-cam on steroids...or was it Viagra?"), and I'm excited to get this car running soon so I can show it off! I appreciate those with knowledge contributing to the online community. It's a big part of what makes this hobby fun for me.

Well I’m bummed because I only have room in the garage for one project and it’s become a 408w, so I’m not going to run Ed’s cam after all. Probably would be great on the street but this setup is for the retrofit roller cam with a smaller base circle and the short block I picked up has a decent cam in it already.

Would love to hear a video of the B+ cam if anyone is running one!

The cam cards have been posted.

Intake specs range from 254 @ .050 to 274 @ .050 (for 16 cams) and one out there at 285 @.050

Smallest intake lobe is .450" (1.6 rocker) the largest .498". A good spread in the .460 -.480" range.

The cam I entered is In: 261 @ .050 .480" lobe Ex: 270 @.050 440" lobe. Lobe sep 108

It's the 4th smallest Intake duration.

If he would use something like a Danny Bee or Jesel belt drive he could change the cam out without removing the front cover. I can't remember how tight the squeeze is but he might also be able to do it without removing the balancer. It would not help degreeing the cams but he could easily do some pulls at +/- 2 or 4 degrees with each one.

I am somewhat close and have these belt drives, I also have a bunch of Procharger SBF stuff. Maybe he needs volunteers for that SBF blower test.

Isn't he doing the SBC with a blower? I'd be very curious to see N/A vs Centri Blower peak RPM with the same cam to know how far different cams shift. Would a blower shift the peak RPM for all cams xxx RPM, or would the shift depend on the relative size of the cam? That's a huge ask for a cam test.

Congrats to those that joined the competition. It's amazing how similiar and yet how far apart these cams are and I'm still very interested in this level of detail.

IMHO, the only way to do this fairly is to choose a blower; Centri, Roots or Screw and make that specific style, make and model blower part of the base combo, just as the previous test was done.

In my world (maybe not others) most 302 / 351 SBF combos were setup with Centrifugal blowers. But since I'm a 302 based guy and 351's provide a wider V for Roots or Screw blower intakes, I could be wrong.

With this 427 / High Port combo already assembled and me being being a Vortech Guy, I'd like to see a Non Intercooled YSi or YSiB added to the existing setup with either 1 specific pulley combo or several specific - not sure enough dyno time would be available for 2-3 pulls with multiple pulley combos.

I'm sure as many or more ProCharger people would like to see their favorite model ProCharger used in testing.

Since this is a world that I lived in for 15 or so years, I'd be willing to contribute some money to a specific cam designer to help things along.
