I'm getting ready to order some race star darkstars for my cobra and I'm trying to decide which rear tire to run between the 325 and 295. I currently have 275s but would like to go wider since I'm stepping up from 15x8 to 15x10 in the back. The racestars have 6.25 back space, my car is an 03 cobra with cobra brakes and a 94 cobra 8.8 (1.5" narrower than 99-04 I think). The 275 has a ton of room but I was wondering if anyone here has successfully ran 325s. I plan to roll the fender lips and grind the banjo bolt some but hoping to avoid major clearance issues. I do not have quad shocks and the rear springs are cut 01 gt springs. I don't want the tires to stock out a lot either. I've already gone 1.50 60's without adjusting the suspension but I would like to get into the 1.3's. Feedback welcome!

I hope you don't get too excited when you see this reply, but I'm basically replying to subscribe to this thread, because I am contemplating the 325/50 Hoosier DR for my twin turbo Cobra, so I'm curious to hear some feedback as well. I too have a SRA so the info should translate.

According to a tire size calculator I use all the time, the 325 50 15's SAE equivalent is a 27.8 x 12.8 x 15. If I'm not mistaken, the 12.8 is treadwidth, so the section width is even wider. The other issue you're going to run into is the height. That's nearly a 28" tall tire. As I discovered with my 28 x 10.5 x 15 ET Drags, the taller the tire, the more you start getting into clearance issues on the high inside radius of the fenderwell (towards the front). Some modification can be done with the BFH, but there is one area there that is backed up by unibody framework and won't move. And I have 15x10's with 6" backspace. Slick does stick out some, doesn't offend me.

Click on my garage thumbnail if you want to see how it looks. My body is still sitting a little high, I was worried about slick "growing". Gonna cut the springs this winter to drop a little.

Thanks for the replies. I have settled on 17x7 and 15x10 darkstars, but haven't actually ordered yet. Team Beefcake Racing over on svtperformance has offered the best deal so far. I'm just stuck on 295 vs 325. As for height my 275 60s are 28 tall anyway. I require that height for the lower cruising rpm with no od also. Anyone else running 325 50 15s?

I've run them before and they fit very well IMO. They do bulge a little, but its more mean than obnoxious. Ive always run them on 15x10 w/ 6.5bs for Fox's and Newedge's with the lip rolled and some massaging of the inner fender

Not sure this will help but I run 28x10 drags and my e-brake cable comes awfully close to the tire so I had to re position it.

Aside from the fender rolling, quad shock removal, I also had to get a hammer and smash down the wheel well near the middle/top area. Kinda where the shock goes up to the body.

These tires going to be for the street or are you going to be racing on them?

Haven't posted here in awhile because the tires got put on hold but I ended up wit weld s77s 17x7 and 15x10. The car sees a 2000-3000 miles annually tops and about 3-4 trips to the track, but I'm looking to improve my times... 9.92 at 136 on 12 psi so far and a best mph of 137 on just 10psi (jumped rev limiter on 12 psi pass. Anyway I'm really torn between 275,295, and 325s. I don't have od so keeping 28" is critical as I don't think a 30" tire will fit. The 295 is only 27.8 but I wouldn't think that would be noticeable. 1.54 60', but with some seat time my goal is 1.3s.,

With the 325 I worry about rubbing but the 295 is slightly shorter and I don't like that either. I have 99-04 gt springs with approximately 1 coil cut right now. Does anyone have pics of their 99-04 mustang with 325s?

I am waiting on a set of racestars to come in. I was wondering the same thing about 295/315/325's. I settled on 295's.
