Window squeak when putting the window up!

Driving me nuts. I took the doors apart and lubed up as much as I could with grease and wd-40. Seemed to work for a day, but the squeak is back on the driver side window. Can't really pinpoint where the squeak is coming from. Anyone fix this before?

Oh, and waxing the window with glass wax helped, but once it got dirty the problem came back.

Mike it sounds like your problem might be the window guide bushings inside the door. My windows squeal, usually when going down. From what I've seen and read it is either the dew wipe along the base of the glass or window guides that are inside the door and have felt on them that eventually wears away to reveal a rubber substance that rubs on the windows. I'm going to take my doors apart probably next month to replace the power lock actuators and I'm going to look at fixing this squealing problem too, especially since I plan on getting my windows tinted.

Mine squeals when you roll it up. I think it is the dew wipe. You can get new ones at 50resto.com. Not sure how much. I think they are riveted on. You have to remove the trim piece on the outside at the bottom of the window to get to it.

I had the same problem with my power windows. There is a metal rod that the windows slide up an down on. I greased the rod with some wheel bearing grease, problem solved.

The culprit is actually the window guide. It is a small rubber piece that bolts in toward the rear of the window and when new it is covered by a felt type material. Over time, this material wears off and exposes the rubber underneath resulting in the squeak. The best way to fix the problem is to replace the guide. The interim solution is using graphite lube on the piece (used for locks and such). It makes half the mess of WD 40 on your windows and stays put as long it's on the inside. You'll have to take off the door panel to get to it, but at that point you might as well replace the guide.

Edit: Sorry I was writing when the post above was made. My guess is that 5.0 resto does not have it.

if I can move my window side to side so that it sort of lifts up when you push the side of it, any idea what id need to take a look at to fix it? I need to take the panel off anyways to replace the broken handle so I may as well fix it when im in there.
