Need to know for a project that I am planning...

I heard MAC fits ok not best, but quality is one of the worse. Best fit is BBK and I know because we installed my long tubes without lifting the engine or scratching the finish (there's about an inch of clearance all around down at the K member too!). The trick is to remove everything around them that will be or become a clearance issue; smog stuff on the passanger side including tubing, both valve covers, steering wheel shaft, EGR, and upper intake (elbow gets on the way).

We sneaked in the driver side LT from the bottom. And passenger side from up top.

Kooks custom headers.

Otherwise BBK or MAC both have their +'s and -'s.

Its like asking Trickflow vs AFR
Tri-Ax vs Pro 5.0

etc...

I have BBK LT's on mine and have no complaints other than the welds being too thick in the individual flanges and the end 2.5" flange was closer to 2.25" so I had to get out the grinder.

i have used both mac and bbk, they both worked fine for me. kooks are on my race car, but they are a little expensive, i bought mine used and got them re-coated. good luck

Hmmm, never really bothered me. One hand on the prybar, one hand on the bolt, and it goes right in. Maybe I am just lucky or something.

Another vote for BBK here. The BBK LT's along with my shorty O/R BBK h-pipe fit together [ace ventura]like a glove. [/ace ventura]

haha well, actually...to me....it sounds like denting a primary is harder than both of my experiences.

The only problem I've ever had with MAC's is the rusting issue. I've unbolted and rebolted several times without a prybar, you just need to get the outter bolts in first (no exception) and than the inner ones. Yeah, a single piece flange is the best but you can't beat the price of MAC's.

The only fitment issue is with the longtubes and an AODE, but that's not MAC's fault. I'm fairly certain they tell you flat out it won't fit with an AODE unless you reweld the O2 bung.

The trick to "dimpleing" headers is get them hot first by running the engine. Then they bend like butter. Just don't hit it too hard or it'll fold up! A couple of socket extensions and a small hammer will get 'er done.
