What tool is used to loosen the bolt that holds down the distributor? I was tolld there was a special tool you used. I thought that sounded a little suspect but none of my tools will reach it. I have an all stock motor including A/C. Thanks!

You can use a wobble extension... crowsfoot.. whatever you prefer. Craftsman sells kindof an "L" shaped wrench that works perfectly, they carry it in most stores & it's only like $10. I didn't see one on Craftsman's site (there're a 1000 wrenches to wade through) but this link has a pic of the wrench I'm talkin about. http://forums.aaca.org/f119/chrome-chraftsman-distributor-wrench-1-2-a-271339.html
13 mm wrench lol...it fits seriously. With A/C you can get it in there between the A/C bracket from what I remember. On my 87 I don't have anything in the way but on my old 92 I was able to do it all stock
I have the 90 degree tool and forgot where I put it since its not needed
My longer 1/2" Snap-On end wrench fits in there quite nicely. I've also used stubby wratcheting wrenches too. I have one of the fancy distributor wrenches, which gets used when I think about it.
Walk into any parts store and ask for a "Ford distributor wrench" and you'll have one in your hands in seconds. It's a C-shaped thing similar to the S-shaped thing BigTang showed (and which I also have) that allows you to do the wrenching from above the distributor where there's 100% clearance. Using a standard wrench can be a bear depending on the intake and front dress combination on the engine.
I use a double box in wrench 1/2 on one side 9/16 on the other it is kinda short bit the 1/2 fits great and i can adjust it at the track with know problem.
I have a super low profile 1/2" socket with a universal joint on it. I found that using a regular socket with universal didn't fit in there, but I guess it depends on what tools you have. A distributor wrench would be fine too.
