i like the way the newer stang sound with an aftermarket exhaust...that deep loud aggressive sound not that higher raspy sound...right now i have bbk shortys, bbk hpipe and borla dumps (i think the quiet borlas) this was on the car when i bought it and to me its just too quiet and at wot its loud but high and raspy...my friend has a 73 camaro with a 383stroker in it and flowmasters and its ridiculous...idle, cruise, wot. but when i listen to the stangs with the flows they sound quiet...i also have an f303 so its pretty lumpy and id like a more aggressive sound.

any help would be great.

thanks

Once you hear the flowmaster super 44 series muffler you might think different. I used to have 40's with an h-pipe, but now i have 44's with an x-pipe and this sound is so much better IMO! The drone at idle is gone and it just sounds nasty in the upper rpm's!

If you want to hear the difference pm me your email and i'll send you some vids.

NOVIDLX...pm sent...so long tubes are louder? deeper? i heard the hpipe gives more of a deep tone while the x pipe is raspier...i dont like the raspy sound i like a classic deep muscle car tone...

Stainless super 44's.....they sound great and put tailpipes back on, in my opinion of course.

You will never beat the sound of a 40 series 2 chamber flowmaster on a stang...

Next to that sound, I prefer the Dynomax race bullets. I have them on my truck and it sounds AMAZING! Im afraid to put them on the car without cats though, especiall if its dumped under the car. I might have to extend the dumps to over the rear axle.

every mustang around me runs flowmasters, they all sound the same. dont get me wrong, they sound good though.

I've got shorties with custom h-pipe and mac catback on mine as well, and it is definitely aggressive and throaty. i like it better

Flowmuckers sound like coffee cans as they should. They're hollow. Most who hear them just don't know any better and when put side by side with a packed muffler, realize the difference. ANY packed muffler sounds better than Flowmuckers, or any chambered muffler for that matter. The OP requested "no raspy sound". Well, that's the first thing heard from a chambered/hollow piece of tin - raspy noise.

At the opposite end from raspy, my Dynomax 2.5" system with H-pipe has a very deep, bassy sound, but because of this, is also pretty mellow. I added cats, and that smoothed it out a bit more. I have clips somewhere if you're interested, but it sounds like mine may be too far the other direction for you.

Killer5-0 – Engine architecture, compression, firing order, and the difference between N/A vs power adder make a huge difference in how an exhaust will sound. Original 40 Series ( and Super 40s and Super 44s) do sound great on small block Fords in Mustangs, especially 5.0s. In fact it’s like they were made for each other.

I have had 3 chamber Flowmaster's on my car for years and have love the sound of them. They do have a signature sound on the old 5.0s

flow master 1 chamber with turn downs. the cops will hate you, so will you neighbors.

We’re glad some of you are still big fans of Flowmaster chambered mufflers. Exhaust sound is subjective and everyone has their own preference. For those of you that like non-chambered mufflers we offer our Pro-Series and HP-2 (18” for moderate sound and 12” shorty for aggressive sound) mufflers.

i have a power adder if that matters and i want to run longtubes for more hp...what midpipe and what mufflers?

had the blowmasters when i bought the car and went to the hooker aerochamber. very quiet(when compared the flows) at idle and normal driving but at WOT they really barked. now im running corsa db's and they are louder than the aerochambers but seem to have a more refined sound. flowmasters have a pretty good sound but not on every car on the road.

i definately want it to be heard at idle, cruise and definately WOT. again i dont want buzzy or raspy. so far it looks like longtubes (what brand) h-pipe (what brand) and i just need to pick out the mufflers now...and what size should i go with? dont mind spending alittle more money for a higher quailty part.

I have an F-Cam, MAC equal length shorties, offroad H and dumped Flowmaster Super 44's on my Capri and it is a deep, throaty sound. I personally prefer the higher pitched scream of an X-Pipe to the lower and deeper sound of an H. I have a crappy in car video of the Capri if you want to hear it.

would love to hear it.
