Get ahold of grn92conv he has some killer alternator options. They are complete, guaranteed and almost jump on.

I think I took one out of a 3.8L taurus and it looked the exact same, same plugs and all. Also took the fan from it and works awesome...the maf worked from it also on my car....just make sure it's not the 3.0L they had different parts like the maf I remember..

 

Got mine of a 3.8L taurus as well. Just clocked it a little to have the wiring plugs sitting right.

 

I would order a new one... I like having a warranty

 

Used ones can be a crap shoot. Just be forewarned.

 

yup a 25 dollar crap shoot as opposed to 170? hmm il take the crap shoot.in all reality most cars werent sent to the scrap yard for having a bad alternator..

believe me i would love a new one and i know one from a junkyard could be worthless but im tight on cash right now so im gonna have to try used for now.

so a 3.8 taurus and 94-95 stangs. any others?

 

while it is nice to have a new one with a warranty, i've been running a j/y 3g for 3 years now. not bad for $20. i beleive mine came from a 96 or 97 t-bird.

Find a 3.0 Taurus.They are EVERYWHERE,and those are 3G 130 amp alternators,and cheap.A bolt on.Just remove the three screws in the back of the case,turn the case 1/3 turn,re-install screws.Easy.I've seen people charge more for a "Mustang" alternator than a "Taurus alternator" simply because of what it was pulled from.E-7 Stang heads,$125.00,E-7 truck heads,$50.00.
