Water in my EGR...WHY? (cobra intake)

I have a 93 cobra intake on my 89 lx. I keep getting code 33 so I pulled off my EGR to find water in one of the ports and water in where the nipple thing is that pushes in and out. Sorry I don't know what that is called.

What I need to know is where is the water coming from? The stock intakes have a spacer that coolant runs through with gaskets on each end....yet the cobra does not have this so I have no idea where the source of fluid would be coming from.

Please help I'm getting desperate as I need to pass smog by the 10th of Feb.

You didn't plug the water into that port did you? I knew a guy that did that and we all thought he blew a head gasket, lol.
please show me the port...car is still running good and oil is looking new still...can you direct me to this port you speak of...I thought I covered all angles.

thank you for your response.

1st, there are no provisions for EGR coolant lines on the cobra intake. That "nipple" on the front side of the "dogleg" opposite the EGR provisions is a vacuum port. It should be plugged if it's not hooked up to something that requires manifold vacuum.

2nd, like MediumRed91LX said, make damn sure you didn't hook up an EGR coolant line to that vacuum port or you will be pumping water into your engine... very bad. Make sure you have plugged both the supply and return EGR coolant lines or just hooked them up together to bypass the intake.

Yes I have the two coolant lines connected to each other. I have a hose going from the nipple on the cobra intake down to the charcoal conister and thats is. I can't find where another source of water would be coming from and making its way to the EGR.

Could it be condinsation? Some kind of indication of running rich maybe?

one thing with that vacume line from the charcoal canister. It was OFF the canister because of old cracked hose...I just the other day bought new hose for it. Maybe now that the hose is properly fitted to the canister the water will go away. I'll have to give it a few days.

Thanks for all the advise and if anyone has more to add please do!

I was reading something just a few days ago about egr systems and whatnot, (can't remember where, if I find it I'll post up a link) and one of the major functions of the egr coolant spacer was to help with condensation being formed in the intake manifold. It said it helped to pre heat the manifold.
