1992 Fox mustang Wiring Harness

LIGHT GREEN w/RED STRIPE. The wire starts on the alternator, in the voltage regulator plug.

I have an EVTM manual that says this wire should have power with key on to power up the voltage regulator. Well, I have no power at this port...and I'm trying to figure out why there is no power. I know that the wire is connected to the battery light in the gauge cluster. I have power at this light, but it is not making it to the alternator. Where and how does this wire connect to the headlight harness(with alternator wiring)? I know there is only one connector that connects the main headlight harness to the dash, but this wire doesn't run thru it (or as far as I can tell it doesn't). Does it turn into a different colored wire before this?

There is a plug near the starter solenoid that appears to have this wire run to it, and it is unplugged on my car. However, it seems to be a cruise control plug, but I could be wrong.

Does anyone have a schematic or a haynes manual handy?

Let me know

Thanks
Shawn

Well, I did what the EVTM said to do...turn key on, and this wire should read 12.6V.

It read nothing, so I ran a jumper wire from the hot side of the starter solenoid to the plug where this wire ends, and MY CAR IS CHARGING!

14.0V at the battery, woohoo!

Now, does anyone know where it goes?

Here's a few pictures:

I believe it goes to the batt light on the dash

okie dokie, let me ask you a few questions. that black plug was connected to the blue one, correct? you just unplugged them for the picture? if so, have you swapped the headlight/alt harness lately or a 4 cyl to v8 conversion??
the problem is those 2 harness' aren't compatible. for 87-89 you have to use the 89 harness (black plug), 90-93 you have to use a harness from 90-93 (blue plug). if you mix them, you don't charge.
let me know if i'm on the right track.

Is this the same for a '86 GT? My alternator is not charging and its the secound brand new one. I have no power to the green wire with red stripe with the key on and not sure if it uses the same setup on the gauge cluster as well like the 87-93 models. Does it work the same? Also I have no batt light when key is on either. Please help I am without a car because of this!!

Thanks
