Alrite, i did the A9l swap in my cobra and ever since it will crank but once its turned off it won't crank again for a couple hours!!!
It smells like it is flooding. I did the computer swap, added a afrp set to 38# and swapped to c&l MAF calibrated for 24#... here's the rub i used the electronics out of my old pro-m calbrated for 19# instead of the stock 5.0 electronics like im supposed and going to as soon as i can find one.

SO WHY WON'T MY CAR CRANK!!!! is it the MAF or is the computer bad? Somebody please help!

will----first off thanks for the shifter it looks great

second----i think its an issue with that mass air meter, try using the stock electronics and see if that helps any

thanks

qkjuicedpony - you welcome about the shifter, sorry i couldn't have gotten it to you sooner.

gtstroker - the A9L swap is a popular mod among the cobra crowd because it has a more aggressive timing curve than the x3z
and some other perks. I swapped the mass air to one calibrated to 24# so it IS saying it has 24's.. that is it would if it had the right electronics in it. at least thats what i think is happening...

any other opinions

you cannot use the prom electronics go to a salvage yard and get the electronics(mass air sensor) from any 89-93 mustang even the old cobra sensor will work

thats what i plan on doing, hopefully that will do the trick.... although i have heard that by using the stock 93 cobra electronics i will cause the car to run too lean!

the mas air electronics are no different from the gt the pcm is programed for the injectors on the cobra with the C&L it may be neccesary to reset the minimum idle on the car I have installed plenty of C&L meters and resetting the idle was a must an all of them, im sure everything will work out ok once youve fixed the sensor

alrite i got the right electronics in now.... i cranked the car and it idled up and and down until the computer learned it and then it evened out.... well i drove it around for about 45min. then i stopped at my friends house and turned the car off... then guess what...IT WOULDN'T CRANK!!!! it was doing the same old song and dance. should i just give it some time, or is the computer to blame? this is getting very frustrating.

Are you saying it won't turn over(crank) or are you saying it will spin the engine but not start?

If it won't spin...take some of that timing out of it. 16 degrees might be too much when it is hot...I've seen many engines do that same thing when hot. Also check how close the header/exhaust is to the starter...starter connections too.

If it's not starting check the electonics pack on the side of the distributor. When replacing it there is suppose to be some heat transfer grease to use so it will disipate the heat.

Just my .02 worth...

the motor spins but it won't crank... i don't think it would be the distributor because it cranked fine before the swap... i think the problem lies in either the computer or the maf... but im pretty sure the maf problem was fixed. so i think its the computer
