Oh yea, that'd have to be limited for use with small parts only :p

I could. Gloss black, flat black, wrinke black...Whichever!

Got a question, had some brackets done in chrome and the have black spots on them all of a sudden . Anyone else have seen this before or know why it happened? Its kind of like the need to be repolished if they were polished.

Powdered parts don't get polished. Have you got a picture? I've never heard of that. It could be dirt...

Here they are, did this abut 3-4 months later and the were just sitting on the engine. Everyone I have talked to said it might have been bad powder.

I've never seen powder turn into results like that, but I've also never seen any reclaimed powder shot .Maybe that was the case w/the coater who did yours and they got contaminated. Although I can't imagine they'd look good and then get worse later like that. You sure nothing got onto it? With the clearcoat that's used on most chromes, dirt could get onto it, heated up from engine heat, and possibly baked into the finish. That same instance happened to the rims on my daily driver (brake dust and/or dirt from a month-long heat/rain storm parade we had earlier this year) and now I can't get it off to save my life!

If that is the extreme chrome, just under the top gloss, it is a dark grey or black looking. I powered mine with extreme chrome and accidently sprayed carb cleaner in the area and it turned the gloss chrome look to a dark grey color. So I pulled them off, scuffed them and powdered them again. When I scuffed them, it all turned that color. Maybe something splashed on it. The chrome is very delicate unless is has the clear on it and then you loose the chrome look.

^true. It's not as thick when cured as traditional colors.

This what they looked like when I pulled them out of the box 3-4 mnths later to put them on , they were inside the house so I know I didn't get anything on them. Going to just get them chrome dipped this time.

my oven is on the right, upper one for smaller and lower for larger parts.

Just found this thread. I've been coating for a little over a year now. I'm a stay at home dad and was looking for something I could make a few bucks at to support my car habit and that I could do from home. Started with a basic Eastwood setup and an old home oven and have be reinvesting my earnings into upgraded equipment. Finally got rid of that tiny oven and got something a little bigger. If anyone is looking to upgrade contact Ted at www.tedsfabrication.com. He makes a good quality oven and spray booth at a very reasonable price. I also invested in a basic blast cabinet and a very nice 80gal compressor. My most recent purchase was a drum of b-17 which is a stripper that will eat the paint/powder off about anything in a matter of minutes. All I can say is this stuff kicks butt. For anyone who has had to do a part over, and we all have, this stuff is a life saver. I also just recently started doing high temp ceramic coatings and gun coatings. I still have a lot to learn myself but if anyone has any questions maybe I can help so feel free to ask. Here are some pics of my setup and some parts I've done.
