Synthetic for t5

Anybody running synthetic lubricant in their T5? If so, what type and weight?

Drain and fill plugs are on right (passenger) side of case. Use a 3/8" drive ratchet or ratchet and extension to R&R the plugs. You may also refill the case by removing the shifter assembly and pouring fluid into the shifter base. Fluid capacity is approximately 2Âľ quarts. I use AMSOIL ATF - dropped transmission temperature significantly.

Redline

Been running the Redline products in my T5Z for 5-years / 50,000 miles. So far, so good. Started out with the MTL, then was told the ATF would be better. I think it's Redline D4-ATF. Mark

I was leaning towards Mobil1 ATF, but my jeeps's tranfer case requires Mobil1 10W30, per the warranty requirement set by the rebuilder.
Has anybody put Mobil! 10W30 in their T5?

I will clarify the Mobil1 10W30 used in the jeep 242 transfer case. This transfer case calls for ATF, but the rebuilder's warranty specifies Mobil1 10W30 in place of ATF. They rebuild the transfer cases for the New York police departments, omong others, and said that the lubricant out performs everything else.

See the connection? I threw this out just to see if anyone used it inthe T5.

I most likely will go with an synthetic labeled for ATF use.

Where do you buy these products? I went to Wal-Mart and did not find synthetic ATF.

I use Mobil 1 "0W-30"

I use Mobil 1 "0W-30" in my Tremec. Can't find Synthetic ATF anywhere. I think Autozone might have it for 6 bucks a quart, maybe I'll try it next time I change it.

Trans shifts fine with the 0W-30 mobil 1. It is such good oil, how can I go wrong?:)

Supershift 10W

W.O.T. Stang, I would use the Supershift 10W oil. If you click on "more product info" it sounds like some really great stuff, AND it is a little cheaper than the Universal Synthetic auto trans fluid. It would be about $25.00 for three quarts (with shipping charges)

I get my Amsoil from a guy in Dallas, it usually costs about 5 bucks to ship a case of oil.

Guldan, are you using the 90W in your T-5? Isn't that too thick (as the manufacturer says) to get into the oiling passages? Does it shift OK with the thick oil in it?

yeah, that's it

W.O.T. Stang - - yeah, that's the stuff. Sounds ideal for a manual trans that needs ATF fluid.

Amsoil also has Universal Synthetic ATF for a little more, but it sounds like that Super Shift stuff is the lube to use. I think I'll order some and try it.

Has anyone tried GM Syncromesh? Heard about it from a Ford buddy that said he heard about it some magazine. This is before I had my LX. I tried the stock fluid and M1 synthetic ATF before I tried the Syncromesh in my LS1 M6. So far I like it the best. Bang T56 is hard as heck to powershift:mad:

EXPENSIVE!

Judd,

The local Chevrolet house gets $9.56 a bottle for the GM Synchromesh fluid! I don't even know if that's for a quart or a pint, I just called them on the phone. Regardless, that's a bunch.
Locally Mobil 1 ATF is about 5 bucks a quart. I think I'll try some of it for now.
