Its not really a question of how much nitrous with a stock engine but a question of total HP, this is because the rods like to give up the ghost around 400-450, this means a safe level would be in the 100-150 range max. Or add a set of forged rods and forged piston kits we offer at $779 and run even more! The key is fuel and good timing control/tuning.

Good luck with your project, let us know how we can help!

Everybody is about the same, 100 to 125 shot on good gas and a good tune and you'll be fine. Like the others have said the car will be quick and you think, damn that feels good and you start to up the jet size and next thing you know you're walkin' the fence and you blow a motor because of the rods and pistons that come in these motors.

I've been runnin' a 100 shot NX plate kit for 3 years on a stock bottom end with no problems. A little common sense goes a long way when running nitrous. Get all the safety stuff to go with the kit (rpm window switch, a good wide open throttle switch, and most tracks require a blow down tube for the bottle.) Good Luck

my buddy matt (camfox) has been a nitrous fiend for as long as i've known him. he tried a 150 shot but kept blowing up intakes. 125 shot was the best he got, i believe high 11's with a stock motor and minimal other mods.

well I just threw in my mmr 1000 5.4 into my 96 gt it has the ceramic coating and teflon skirt upgrade to the flat top pistons (10.5:1 cr) along with the nitrous rings, also has stock PI; heads, cams, fuel system and suspension with a nx wet kit(with all the extra accs. aswell), trickflow intake, udps, catless x and magnaflows , where should I start? where would you start? to get the rest of the car up to par to go fast in a straight line while still being able to drive it daily (impractical thinking?)

You bought the MMR 1000 as a short block? That's a beast of a bottom end for stock heads/cams. But with an all forged bottom end w/ nitrous rings I'd feel comfortable up to 300 with a good tune and ARP head studs with good head gaskets.

i ran 125 zex shot for 6 years zero issues except when i missed a shift and had a nitrous(puddle in the intake) backfire!!! i did it 3 times and all 3 cost me a new air filter and the track guys checking the track and bringing me back a blown up air filter !!!!! hahahahha......evrey time i thought my intake would blow but never did !!! Guess i was lucky!!!! lol...........good tune or follow instructions with the kit and U should have zero issues!!!!I first started i didnt have a programer i would back my timming up manually with my timming adjuster!!!! Real fun when its hot !!!! lol

988hatch50 I would maybe look at getting some heads and cams or at least a nitrous set up cam.....cause man U that block can take a lot more than a 125 or 150 shot try double that easy....Again its all in the tune after U decide how much u gonna shoot down its throat!!!!! Also look at Ur fuel system too!! U might want to go to a stand alone fuel system dedicated to the nitrous cause other wise u will go lean on the rails if im not mistAken!!!! I know i had spikes with the 175 shot but i also wasnt tuned for it just threw them in at a dyno day at a show to see what would happen!!!
