I saw pictures once on a deck fb page of one of their blocks.

As you can see it was a complete piece of dog ****. I’d imagine if you can get one that was properly machined it would hold a decent amount of power. They used to make a 9.2 deck windsor block that accepted ls heads, which I thought was quite interesting to say the least.

As costs for the aluminum version of this block was what I wanted to pay for a block at the time- a year or two ago- I lokked into purchasing ome. But, even if cost were 1/2 of other aluminum blocks, the reportted quality was so bad rhat I walked away. Speedmaster even offered it on a sale, think price was sub 2000$. Others were like 6 grand or so.
Cast iron version might be better. Later alu version might be good. iDK.

Thanks. I was guessing at the 1.25" figure from recently browsing the rods and pistons on Summit, where you have to select various dimensions to pull up all of the possible choices for various rod lengths. So yes I didn't do the math before I posted the 1.25" figure, and you knew it well.

I was years ago thinking of building a 408 Clevor with my existing heads, that would be the best version of over 400ci with Cleveland heads. But I decided the truck didn't need that for the cost and usage. Plus intake choices etc, so sticking with my original 351C-2V short block is best for this project.

This is when you get into engine building instead of just engine assembling. The brand of rod and piston doesn't matter. Start dabbling with different journal sizes and the ability to offset grind a crank while using off the shelf parts meant for different vehicles. All about the math, measurements and machining. Went down that rabbit hole once. Very interesting but NOT for me at this point. Keep it simple stupid is more in my current lane.

i paid $1595aud a month ago for one off ebay Australia, thats about $1090usd, the block needs a good going over with a die grinder as most edges are left sharp, i bought a Dart SBF finishing kit and cam bearings, the fasteners are junk, i plan on getting it machined soon, i have a scat 4.100 crank internal balanced, molnar 6.200 h beam PWR adder rods, and DSS 4.125, 31cc dish 2618 pistons, so it will be 438ci, its going to be a turbo street combo with a billet S488,

Hope it works out for ya.. That's one company I will avoid at all costs. Figure with the current market we will probably see more Chinese castings in the future just need a much better company then speed master handling the QC. Looks like Dart has started to jump into the Chinese cast head game like every one else with the shp line.
