What is the trick to removing the inner seal in the rack and pinion? I am replacing the seals on my 95 cobra. this one is proving difficult to remove since it is ~15 inches down the hole and pressed in. Its the one in the middle of the rack and has to either drive out from one side or pull out from the other. I have tried with a slide hammer and tool I made. but to no success. The picture is on my ipad and is from a wifi hi resolution bore scope. The spring, white plastic ring, and various parts of seal have come out. I'm having trouble getting a gap / getting it started. Any suggestions or specific tool links would be great.
thanks

do you have the ford service manual? if so look on pages 11-02-10 and 11-02-11.

it looks like there may be a pin you have to drive out? I cant really tell. there is more than likely a specialty tool that a rack rebuilder would pay to have. kinda like the long ass needle nose pliers in 90* angle that I had to buy to rebuild my 43mm rear calipers.

Buy a reman rack for $120-$140 and save yourself some time better spent doing other things.
