this past weekend i took my car out to the local dragstrip for their high school drag night...i started the day out running an amazing 16.8....after that missed 3rd gear:mad: and ran another mind numbing run of 17.3....then i got my act together and ran a 14.7....i thought this was still way too slow, i wanted to break into the 13's...well first round elimnations came around and i put my dial in at 14.7, ran it, busted out running a 14.242 at 98.769mph i was happy because this was 1/2 second better than my previous time, although i broke out, i paid $10 and got back in the bracket, starting the 2nd round of eliminations...as i was shifting into 2nd gear my steeda tri-ax shifter snapped in the middle and i found my hurst shift knob in my lap, grabbing the what was left of the shifter i finished the run, but was out, and the $200 prize was out of reach....with my combo should i be able to run in the high 13's at least? i have kumho ecsta tires and they seem to grip pretty well once a new coat of VHT as been sprayed, is my car that slow or do i just need more driving experience?? any tips to making me run 13's are helpful:lol:

do you PI heads? If not, that would explain the low mph. I would say you need practice. Hell, my best run is a 13.0 at 114.5 mph so don't feel bad.

you broke the handle or the knob?

my car is mostly stock and my worst pass ever is a 15.11 (only 15 second slip) and it was caused my a massive surrender of my stock clutch, no runs on the spec yet.

test and tune is your friend, no one runs thier best times thier first day out. Learn how to make consistant solid runs and you will be fine.

Is that 98 mph on a full throttle pass? That seems extremely slow to me. Especially for a car with an S-trim.

My bone stock, 3750 lb, automatic, convertible 01 GT ran a 14.37 @ 96.10. I would hope a non-PI headed car with an S-trim would do much better than that.

I would run some codes on that thing and see what you come up with.

EDIT: As far as the shifter, Steeda should replace it free of charge. I had a friend have the same thing happen and they sent him a new shifter out the next day.

yeah i called steeda and told them what happened and they told me to send the busted on in and theyd give me a brand new one....right now i have to make due with a vice grip :) and yes that was a full throttle pass my numbers were....

660ft. 9.213
e.t. 14.242

where ever your located.. go find a a dyno, your times sound like my 96 GT with off road H and Gears ran.

Your running on 3 cyl's or something. You need a compression test, and need to double check your set up.

I can understand your shippy times but your mph should be in the mid/low 100's b/c of the blower..

not a vert, no dyno, there are no places to tune in wichita ks, gettin ready to put on a set of longtubes and msd dis-4......i think i shift better with the vice grip, maybe i should ditch the tri-ax handle :)

id like to get some gears but doesnt that jack up the speedometer?

a vice grip, that's great!

If people ask what that is tell them an ultra high flux capacitator high performance short shifter package with the extreme griping delux kit for optimum comfort and performance.

If you get gears the speedo can be corrected. Personally, I would hold off on the mods until you get that thing tuned and looked at. With an S-Trim you are running way to slow of trap speeds. Something is not right.... :(

They're right. The ETs and speeds you're trapping are what I would expect your car to get WITHOUT the blower. You should be doing that naturally aspirated. With the blower, you should easily be down in the low 13's or even high 12's.
