Ok after coming into more money I have decided to go the blown route now that I can afford it not really but I can make it happen. Ok Ive been doing some research on which blower I would like to buy in a month or two once bank account is ready. Anyways I was thinking of doing a S-trim but for a little more I could get a Novi 2000 which will be more than enough once I build my bottum end. I can only afford the blower 42lb injectors in tank pump and mass air meter and tune and chip for now so I wont be running higher boost than the stock pulley on the paxton comes with what is that by the way? I figure once my funds are recovered I can build the bottum end and turn up the boost than. Is there a power pipe that works with the Novi Ive seen a bunch for S-trim but none for novi. Also how hard was install on a DOHC anyone do it therselves. Ok well thanks for the info Im pretty much sold but just push me over the top thanks. Also anyone using the charge cooler system with the novi 2000 how is it does it work well installation how was it?

can't do it chief. my novi 2000 has been the worst, least reliable blower i have ever seen. ON the other hand the thing makes great power ie 621rwhp/464rwtq with no intercooler and unported heads on 15 psi. however, my reliability has been abysmal.

1. they send it with a gt pulley. back to paxton it goes
2. get it back, blower is knocking. goes back for rebuild.
3. Get it back, drive for about 3k, starts sounding funny and leaks a **** load of oil. back again.
4. Rebuild the thing completely, only thing from original unit are the gears.
5. Drive for 180 miles and the thing starts squeeling and make all kind of ****ty noises. sounds like a bad bearing. It got there on friday, and i won't have it back for probably 3 weeks since it takes them so long.

Paxton will NOT give me a new unit, and i have had nothing but problems with this piece of **** since the beginning. Paxtons official word is "just send it back, we will look at it!" No rushing, or free shipping, or anything. I get to pay 50 bux to ship the thing, for them to hold on to it for 2 weeks (leaving me carless) and then casually ship it back. I get nothing from them but bull****. sure they answer the phone when you call, but they can make no amends if you get a faulty unit. This thing is a lemon and if when i get it back something else goes wrong, im demanding a new unit, or they are getting papers from an attorney.

I should have bought a JT trim vortech or F1 procharger or something, because i didn't pay over 3000 dollars to have a piece of **** i have to send cross country ever 2 months.

i may be a single special or unusual case, but i will never buy any paxton product ever again.

holy crap anyone else with these type of problems with paxton this is some scary stuff thankyou 99svt for the info I thought it was a good reliable blower. Did 99svt just get a lemon or does this happen frequently?

maxjm, their intercooler systems are top notch. the only problem is that they are HUGE and they hang down kind of low. if you are the kind of guy who likes to drop the car into the weeds, you may have some scraping problems, but looking at your sig, that doesn't seem to be the case.

A friend has one on his novi 1000 blown cobra and his inlet temps stay very close to ambient temps.

I really want the novi 2k I just want to make sure there isnt more out there like yours I would like to get it with charge cooler system how hard was his install on the charge cooler also when you say it hangs low can you see it when looking from front of car hanging out the bottum?

the novi 2000 is the blower to get. the 1000 maxes around 520rwhp, after that its just blowing hot air. I have not seen a lot of problems with novi's in general and that is why i bought one. I have bad luck when it comes to cars, but this is very dissappointing. Btw, my buddy has no problems with his 1000 and he likes it a lot.

as for the intercooler. He has an 00R front lip so you can't see anything below the car. On a 98 bumper you will probably see some of it hanging below the bumper. Install is about typical, but its a TIGHT fit in there. You may need to mount it offset a bit to get it to fit. Its worth it. If i had the extra cash i would have one.

The car is not lowered. Well, it's a bit lower than stock in the front due to age and added weight under the hood. 3/8 inch maybe?

The blower is a Novi 2000. I've had no trouble with it in the 20k miles it's been in service. The blower seems like a nice unit but .... Paxton didn't design it, doesn't build it, and isn't too fun to deal with when you need parts or service for it.

If you go with the 2K be careful with it. In the '98 Cobra application it's being spun just below the strong part of its operating range. If you happen to get a 'punchy' one it can unexpectedly give you a lot more boost than you were anticipating.

I'm running on a stock longblock with deliberately restrictive intake plumbing and exhaust system as a safety net. I see about 11 lbs boost at 7k rpm with the cooler and a 4 inch (stock) blower pulley. On this 4V that gave about 500 rwhp on 93 octane pump gas. The tuner reeled it in to about 480 rwhp for improved longevity.

Bring lots of fuel to the party. I'm running an '03 Cobra tank and pumps and it's not much more than 'just enough'.

If your goal is to keep turning up the wick till something goes boom the 2k won't hold you back.

Thanks for the info rick? Helps me out alot you recommend the cooler at the same time aswell? What size injectors are you using with it? Wow it makes 11lbs of boost with just the stock pulley that is impressive until I get a built bottum end I will run a restrictive intake aswell no point to open it up I would be happy with 450rwhp until I can build my bottum end than up she will go. How is the sound on this bad boy does it whine much or is it tollerable? 99svt what sixe injevtors are you running? Also 99svt you have a built bottum end correct? Also Rick what do you say the clearance is from your cooler to the ground? Thanks

I'm probably not up to date any more....but if you're just going to run 42's, why not S trim.

If you're really going to take advantage of the Novi 2000, 42's won't cut it, I don't think. And yes i know you can run at low out put like Rick is doing.

You really need to decide where you're going mod wise IMHO.

maxjm, i have a built 8.5compression shortblock yes.

i run 55lb injectors at less then 50 psi and they are about maxxed out. i could bump pressure or go bigger if i wanted to up power.

these novis make BOOOST. i see 15.5psi with the stock pulley and a powerpipe at 7200rpm. you will lunch a stock motor if you aren't careful.

An S-trim will support 600rwhp and you don't really hear about these problems with customer service.
it may support it, but it will have quite a hard time making it there.

an s trim flows 1000cfm, a novi 2000 flows 1700cfm. Thats a huge difference.

the novi can do it with the stock pulley with no IC. id like to see you do that with an Strim at 15psi.

taken from an earlier post by SNAKBTN:

603 rwhp
499 rwtq
stock longblock
Vortech S-trim 19 lbs
3550 lbs

35,000 miles with the Novi2k on my car and its been the most drop dead reliable part of my car. I've been through 3 motors, lots of suspension parts, broken trannies and the Novi has never hiccup'd once. I've never tried Paxton service because of that reliability so I can't comment on their follow-up.

This is on a 99 Cobra with a return fuel system, 55 lb injectors, stock 4" pulley, non-intercooled. 42's are marginal with the stock pulley.

The qualify of the kit, brackets, "power pipe," pulley's etc. is one of the reaons I bought the supercharger. Never had a belt slip problem but I'm only running 14 psi at 6800 rpm using a six rib gatorback belt. Not an ounce of belt dust but then its a huge stock pulley.
