Apparently That forum has run it's course. No one has posted for several months. Woody is here not on his own site.

That forum software is buggy. Forums have been abandoned in droves in favor of facebook. When I get time, I may look into it. Keep in mind I have paid for that site since 2006 out of pocket. We shall see, I am in Vegas for the next 6 days. Headed back to the craps tables.

I do not get the allure of Facebook for car information. From the little I have seen it is mostly wild ass guesses and misinformation. Oh, and lest I forget you get plenty of abuse from these same misinformed asses when you attempt to correct wrong information. It does not seem worth the effort.

Which is absolutely no different than forums have always been, except at least with forums, you had a functional search feature.

I used facebook for a while

It's an absolute horrible joke. And it's an addiction. The fox groups and the SBF groups are overrun by know-it-all kids whose knowledge rivals that of Porky Pig, while the folks who know their stuff might say something...and then the know-it-all's want to downtalk those who really do know because their name isn't plastered on some NMRA or "street outlaw" car somewhere. Too much drama.

Got off of it and my life, overall, has improved. If people want to get in touch with me, they have my phone number. Or stop by the house or the shop, that'd be better but people don't do that anymore and expect everyone to use the FARSEbook.

SBFTech was slowing down, like all forums have as of late. What stopped people from posting there is inability to post anything because of the software issue Woody mentioned. I still go there to search for stuff, but haven't been able to post in months.

I prefer the SBFtech forum for serious Ford information. I don't check there much now, the slow activity there is my reason.

Facebook is mostly for comedy and blocking dumb ass kids who can't stop their obsession with posting meme's. Occasionally there's someone who knows what they're talking about. At least here I know who's who and what to expect from them. Facebook seems to have an infinite supply of dumb kids.

I have found that the corral seems to be the last holdout on the internet for small block ford enthusiasts. Every other car forum knows next to nothing about what used to be commonly known facts about small block fords just 10 years ago. SBFtech was good, but it's pretty much dead. YellowBullet or SVTperformance are the only other two car forums that seem relevant these days, and they too seem to be dwindling.

One may think that bashing or repeating the same old BS is bad. I know you can google your question over and over and find an answers. It may be the wrong answer. But if you have the knowledge and don't share it. Your knowledge is useless. So if you want the forum to stay useful help other. Even if you have to repeat yourself time and time again.

There are a few people who own businesses here and don't pay to advertise. They run their trap all the time and give useless info. Just that your combo is incorrect. Not that they don't sell good products just B.S. that they don't give useful advice. Guess who you are.

Well I've certainly been guilty of that, this is a good reminder

I think more people are starting to realize what a lot of people here are saying, IE that Facebook is garbage for doing any sort of research or for building or maintaining a knowledge base. It can be decent for selling things at times but even that can be tedious. I do my best to not use it at all.

Selling stuff sucks too you get asshats who make comments on stuff they have no intention to buy.

I had one guy who posted a similar item from eBay as of I was asking to high a price.

I was selling a new in box branded alternator made in USA and he was telling me I was dreaming.

I had to give up posting on FB. Too many 20-something year old kids who think they are professional engine builders because they put a 302 together once. I agree with what others have said about guys who are spewing BS and then crapping on people who actually know what they are talking about. I stopped posting because I got sick of taking abuse just to answer simple, basic questions.

The FB groups are good when you need something quick answered, like "where does this wire go to?" or something simple that might require someone to take a picture of their car for you. Other than that, i'll stick to forums for good technical discussion with a search feature.

Here are two of them. And I copied this from Ed's profile. I sick of the B.S. Forums are for free information. I understand you get what you pay for. I asked about sbftech because there were individual ther that were willing to help and have the right answer's. There are several here that do the same. Then the others. If you want paid for you information pay the advertisement fee's and direct you customer to your email. Don't give routine canned answer's. Let those defend away if you feel the need. For those who try to help with real info Thanks.

Quote Mark O'Neal:

"Virtually every customer I have has the same first interest. That is what is the lowest price he can pay. People like myself, Ed and very few others on this board have spent decades learning what we know.....and y'all want that knowledge for free....and you'll take the parts for free as well."

The more common scenario is that they call and talk for a while to get the information they want, then go buy it from someone that is "cheaper." From my own point of view, it doesn't much bother me. I know of others that get pretty worked up about it.

The whole reason in Forums is to post information and learn information for free. Why should I build 50 combos to learn every combo when others can share the information with each other and find the best combos. I don't know as much as some but I give information when I can and I add my builds so people can learn from them.

Did you spend $100,000 on combos or did you sell people combos and learn from their money. (much of what you have learned is from others telling you for free)

The way I see it is I usually buy from people off the form because they help others and people brag on their customer service. Plus they are building a name so they will try and keep a good name. But you also have to keep in mind some people brag just because they spent the money so not all information or people are on the same page. Yes, I know I talk in circles lol

I see Tmoss helping people all the time and people use him for it.
I see Strokeme helping people all the time and people use him for it.

Both great names and customer service and great work. (not saying others aren't the same way just pointing out 2 I have used)

It's always a risk for business owners to participate on a open forum. IF they actually know what they're doing, they are barraged with questions. I don't know how Woody has time to actually build engines. He has given away knowledge on here that has probably saved others tens, maybe hundreds of thousands of dollars. I haven't had the right opportunity to buy anything from him, but I'll continue to look for one. Because to buy something from the guy is the only way to really say "Thanks". I did get that opportunity with Tom Moss. I had him port a GT40 lower for me. I did that as much to say "Thanks" as anything else. I will look for that chance with ALL of the business owners who are active here. Because they deserve my meager purchase as a thank you for all they give away on here. If there are some who DON'T give away their knowledge for free, but they know their stuff, I'll STILL try to steer my $$ their way. Because if they are on here, they GET it.
