Umm...
Not sure where your info came from??? 4.6's hardly ever blow head gaskets...even under boost. IF one did pop a gasket, someone most likely had an EFFED up tune, injector, or other issue that contributed to it.
2V's are however known for tossing plugs with the 2VPI heads on occasion...mostly due to the fact that they are barely held in the head with 4-5 threads for the plug.
Here's a pic of mine after it took place UNDER BOOST...at the 1000ft mark at WOT doing a 1/4 mile run. Most of the time the plug just strips the hole for the sparkplug and guys repair it with an insert.
Here's what it did to the coil:
The Plug:
If you really want a 600-800RWHP 2V motor, you can avoid this issue buy buying some of the new TFS heads as they are designed much better, flow great (even better if ported) and the spark plug holes have more threads. And of course some good blower cams.
E85 is awesome for boost and racing cars, just hope you can get it easily and have sources close by. To get 600-800rwhp on E85, you better be prepared to install one hell of a fuel system since E85 requires MUCH more fuel than good old 93 Octane.
Want an idea on costs? Here's mine:
DSS Super Mod Longblock motor with Polished Ported stage II heads, Crower Camshafts, Forged Pistons/Rods, Cobra Crank, 7QT Canton Pan, Spec Flywheel, McLeod Clutch/Pressure Plate and other little crud= 9000$
Kenne Bell Polished Blower Kit = 6000$
03/04 Cobra Fuel Tank and Pumps= 700$
Siemens Deka 60lb Injectors= $360
Modified FPDM= 100$
Dyno Tune = 230$ *reused chip supplied by Kenne Bell*
TKO600 Tranny = 1800$
I installed all this crap myself.. so NO LABOR COSTS. I did pay some lift time to a friend who's shop I kept the car in for a while. My motor is OVERKILL for my application, it is built to handle 700-800 crank HP...and I only have a little Kenne bell 1.7L blower on it..pumping 430rwhp (about 500-510 crank). It gives me room to grow someday..when my kids are out of the house.
Don't forget you will need some decent 31 spline axles, an aftermarket differential, some good upper/lower control arms and other suspension work so it will hook. Some slicks/drag radials help too. How about some brakes to make it stop better?
Be prepared to blow anywhere from 15000 to 20000$ to get what you are seeking. Can it be done more cheaply?? SURE..there's always a bargain out there.
So.. you need to decide how much $$$ you want to put into all this, because you could easily just save your money and go buy an 03 Cobra and keep a lot more money in the bank. Even an 05-06 3V GT with just a blower will pump 450-500RWP with minimal effort on the stock motor...and they come from the factory with 31 spline axles. You could build a couple quick Fox Body cars for all this money as well.
Good Luck with your moneypit. Hope I didn't depress you too much
