been seeing this motor on craigs list for a while now. was wondering what your opinions on it are. just curious. not 100% looking right now buuuut would be nice to have the "next step" already on deck for when i eventually crack the 5.0 roller block. would need an intake and i have a 5 speed so would have to get a flywheel and rest of the swap parts. just bought an AJE crossmember with mounts that work on 5.0 and 351s. just has me thinkin.... heres the link. thanks!!

i would want to take it apart, mic all the journals and check everything, correctly. as far as the crank, i would wonder why someone would do a 4340 3.75" stroke eagle? i wouldnt spend $5500 on that. maybe $2500 because I would have to take it apart and possibly have to do more machine work to it.

only $50 to check bearing and ptv makes me very suspcious. all those cranks need work. and if you just plastigage them you are asking for trouble, and by that i mean wiped bearings.

I wouldn't pay more than $3500 for it.

If it came out of a reputable shop, and has documentation to show clearences, being a fresh build with new parts, i think it would sell quick somewhere between 4500 and 5000. If there is no build sheet or the shop is questionable, you would have to factor in the cost of having it checked and re-assembled.

Before i started my 408 build, i looked around for short blocks ready to go, alot of stroker short blocks in the 3000 price range to put it into perspective.

I paid about $3200 shipped for a 408w from CHP, I know it doesn't matter here. I would ask him for documentation of it. If your not able to go and physically look at it I would pass.

Because stuff like valve train, balancer, oil pan and pump, rockers all add up fast, and people tend to round down in the process lol. I think 5500 is a negotiable price

So if the motor came from Fordstrokers would it still be junk, or worth the price. :leghump:

lots of good builders out there, just sayin

You guys are funny. The dude has $9000 into it With receipts for everything , Do you really think he is going to sell it for $2500-3500. Get real. With the parts he has it is a fair deal at the Asking price of $5500. I would plan on having it disassembled and check the machine work. If all is good your out another $500 having it checked out and reassembled. Offer him $4500 if you get it for $5000 or less you are in great shape.

700fwhp is about the limit on that year 351 block. if ur looking for 550rwhp and boost u need to look elsewhere.

69-74 351 blocks r the strongest. most people now days just go to a dart shp instead of 69-74 351's.

try racingjunk.com and yellowbullet.com if ur looking for a new race engine that has been discounted.
