Need/want new suspension on '98 GT: Help!

Based on tire wear, I think the front left is getting a little "limp" on my GT. The guys at the tire shop (NTB) told me that assuming all other things are in check (i.e., alignment, wheel balance, tire pressure, etc.), a bad shock could be the cause of the rather erratic tire wear on my ride. I'm certainly no expert, but it seems like a reasonable conclusion to me (even though the GT only has 43K miles on it). I have noticed that the front left seems to take a bit of a dive under any type of cornering, so I thought that now may be the perfect time to consider lowering the beast a little. I don't want a major drop (concerned with dragging), but just enough to fill in some of that huge gap above the 17"s. I would appreciate any feedback and pics from those of you that have "dropped" a '96-'98 GT. What type of kit do I need for the street and what major concerns/problems do I need to look out for (camber, etc.)? I don't want it to be so stiff of a ride that it rattles my teeth, but definitely stouter/lower than stock. How much should I expect to pay for the parts and who are the recommended manufacturers? Finally, is aftermarket suspension a pain to install at home? Thanks in advance!

When I had my 98GT, my rear shocks went to mush at 35k miles. I replaced th front struts and rear shocks with bilsteins and a set of H&R sport springs and it was a new world. If your stang is primarily a street car, this setup is great

My 97s front struts started to die at 40k and were totally gone by 45. I replaced them with Koni yellows. The rears I replaced much later with used ones out of a cobra. I did not lower the car. You will be stunned at how much better the car will handle with a set of quality, adjustible struts. If you combine that with GW/FRRP lower control arms and subs, it will be a totally different car.
