I've seen numerous people on here with pics of their engine that has the same setup as me. I've even had this on MY car before. The problem is on start up I get the loudest belt squeal. I know its because I have no idler but I'd like to know if anyone has found a way to make it stop. For all of ya waiting to pounce....i mean WITHOUT putting the adjuster back on and WITHOUT cranking down so tight on the adjuster that the bearings in the alternator die. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Actually its about the same wrap so maybe check pulley alignment since it looks like its not rubbing even... Here are some pics of the old setup

my pulleys are inline.
i do know the more i tighten the belt the less it squeals. but as stated above...i don't want to damage the alternator bearing.

same problem

i have the march power steering and a/c delete kit, using the stock belt tensioner and it too squeals badly first starting and slightly just about every time after.

I have no issue at all, and never have had one, but I don't count. While I have a Vortech, I have stock pulleys and idler.

Glass or sand beading with a coarse mixture will really decrease slipping. I had some slipping issues on the SC, and I glass beaded my SC pulley.

I'll chime in, had the same issue after removing smog and AC, using these aftermarket brackets. I ended up doing a different belt routing that is a little less stressful on the alt pulley. The belt is real tight, only get squeals in very cold starts, first rev.

I think it has to do with the angle of the belts from the pulleys. And with these brackets the more you tighten the tensioner it changes the orientation of the alt.

UPDATE:
This morning I swapped the BBK pulleys that were on the car to some steel underdrives I had sitting around. The billet pulleys were very slick and I think that is where the squeal was coming from. Anyway, it stopped for now. I may have just tightened the belt up a little more. I don't know. But no squeal!!!!
