I'm getting tired of my 2 chamber Flowmasters, so I'm thinking about making my car a little more quiet. Are the Magnaflows more quiet or louder than the 2 chamber Flowmasters?

the Magnaflows are very quiet compared to Flows but at WOT they scream. Ive had them both on my last to Stangs and love the sound and quality of Magnaflows. Flowmasters are fine but i just got tired of the drone that would put u to sleep.
Definitely go with the magnaflows. I am soo sick of the nasty flowmaster drone, I'll never own another set! I switched to magnaflows and love them. They are much more quite while cruising but really come alive at WOT. Plus there's no comparison in the quality, magnaflows won't rust and split in half!
Flowmasters hands down. None of us bought them by accident and we all know the drone issue. Only options in my book is to get a better stereo or get an overdrive/sixth gear to cruise in. I don't need the brand stamped into the tip to know what I have.
Great, sounds like Magnaflow is the way to go. I am getting tired of the drone inside the car, it's a P.I.T.A trying to talk on the phone with all that drone.
If you have gears at highway speed you should be above the drone sweet spot. I have driven a stang with Flowmasters since 1997 or so and it doesn't bother me. But this isn't really something you can ask someone, you have to make the choice yourself.
i have the magnapacks and they drone around 1800-2100 rpm, but not as bad as the flowmasters that were on the car. they give a really low rumble at idle and do get pretty loud at wot, but i love it.
I don't understand all the hate towards the drone??!!
That's the whole ####ing point! When I was much younger I roasted an entire clutch going up a 12 story parking garage just so I could hear the drone echo off everything.
The drone is WHY I buy flowmasters. 13 years after installing them, I still try and drive in the sweet spot all the time while cruising..
I've since installed flowmasters on every other v8 car i've had.
I'm with you Jeremy, that is the reason I bought them as well. I too won't be using any other muffler.
couple of vids from when my car had the stock 5.0 an x-pipe and the old 2 chamber flos dumped. I love the way my old flows sound, and I've had them on 6 different foxes now.
I like a loud nasty lopey idle. So I like Flowmasters that are loud without getting on it. If flowmasters suck so much I wonder why I can't go anywhere without people telling me how good it sounds. Up north rust might be a concern. But here in Florida I have a Flowmaster catback thats almost 10 years old and has nearly 0 rust and looks almost brand new.
I replaced my super 40's with dynomax ultra flows made of 409 stainless steel and they are much quieter than the flowmasters with normal driving but put the hammer down and all bets are off . I love them try to find a sound clip I think you would like them look on youtube for the sound clips .
I put 2 3" magnaflows in series... but I wanted a semi sleeper... I do love the sound of the 2 chamber flowmasters, as long as the car can back it up... I just don't like the really loud cars that are slow (poke at the rice rockets)
to me, magnaflow's just sounded kindy of raspy...just a step above cherry bomb's.
remember, flowmasters only sound generic to US because we're so used to them. However, to the rest of the planet, flowmasters are generally #1 and turn heads the most. It's that "sound" that people just associate with high hp muscle cars.
Flowmaster mufflers sound different depending on h or x pipe, longtube headers, camshaft and cubic inches, etc.... They sound anything but generic as many things will change the sound of the same muffler.
I do agree the sound of flowmasters on a stock mustang are a little common.
Flows make a high 13 sec car sound like should run 10's. That's why I like the Magnaflows, my car sounds pretty much stock but should hit 11's easily. Poor vette wont stand a chance against my stock looking stang
