I am thinking of lowering my 91 lx an inch to improve the handing and looks. What are some good brand of springs to use? I have long tube headers, will I have clearance problems? What do you guys use? Is there a big difference in feel when driving the car? Does anyone have any pics of fox bodies that are lowered?

Be HONEST. Do you want LOOKS **or** HANDLING?????
For handling, drop the car ~3/4" and go with Buillitt Springs (600 lbs) or stiffer. Do NOT drop the Stang more than 1". And, you need a spring rate of at LEAST 600lbs. And, yes, in *reality* the car will be harsher on bad roads.

For LOOKS, do what the **** you want. :) In reality, if you go more than an 1" drop, the car will handle and ride like cr*p compared to stock GT. But, you can have many ricers back you up on saying the car handles like it's on rails and has a better ride than a Caddy. However, *anyone* that has a clue, will be laughing their *ss off at those claims.

Do a search on
o my name
o ricer springs

You'll find many posts by me. And, you'll find many ricers posting their view. But notice, other then their "calibrated butt-o-meter" and their grade-school physics, they can't provide any reasons or proof behind their claims.

Here is mine, they are from Jamex ,and I am not sure of the drop.
My car definatly does not handle that good, however its hard to tell if it is better or worse then stock, I mean it takes an on-ramp at a decent speed.
I did it for looks and wasnt too concerned about handling.

I run FMS B Springs on my 87 Vert. I like them. Fairly good ride and handle good, looks good (At least I think so). Dropped aprox 1" front, 3/4" rear.
I also have many other suspention mods. As said above. It takes a lot more than a set of lower springs to make Fox Chassis car handle good.

If you want handling the ride is gonna be a tad harsher.GOtta pick what you want.

FOr me i think im about in the middle of both worlds.

I run :
h&r vert super sport springs (higher spring rate)
bilstein shocks/struts
poly insulators(top/bottom)
fms front control arms
fms rear uppers(new bushings in diff)
hotchkis lowers
mm c/c plates
mm bumpsteer kit

I run longtubes and only have issue over very high speed bumps. In two years i think ive scrapped three times.

Rides better than it did stock but handles better than my 99 did.

This message is to White 99 GT and Shadrack. I really need to know what wheel and tire combos you guys are running. I 'm going to mildly drop my 1979 and and 15 inch wheels and i guess 265/55/15 drag radials. I was told 15 inch wheels 4x4.25 with a 5.5 inch backspace. I really need to know if 265/55/15's are too wide or too tall for a drop. Thanks
