Any of you guys running the 2" Steel Cowl Hood that LMR sells on a Fox Body? I had been looking at the Cervini's 2.5" fiberglass hood but I like the look of the 2" better.

I had this hood before until last year when I got in a little wreck and destroyed it. Here's a picture of it on the car. Sorry I don't have more. I liked the hood, it fit well. I actually need a new hood right now and am debating between getting the LMR one again or going all out and getting a 5in.

Thanks, I'm really leaning towards this hood.

personally i think the 2.5" and bigger hoods look out of place on our cars, but obvious sometimes they are needed to clear specific combos. hopefully the lmr is half decent quality.

I had always planned on going with a 2.5" Cervinis but after seeing the 2" steel hood that is the direction I want to go. Just feel like it looks a little better and like that it's steel. Does anyone know if they have the same amount of air flow than the Cervinis 2.5" hood? I could definitely use the extra cooling in my engine compartment.

Personally I prefer the more subtle lower cowl. I started modifying a stock hood when I was putting my car together ...

I had some paint issues so I abandoned it for a few years, then did this in late 2019...

I did not finish and moved onto this with another stock hood in 2020...

If you can, build what you want.

I'm now thinking of just sticking with the stock hood. I've always like the looked of a small cowl hood but I also like the look of a clean stock fox body. Had also planned on going with a Cobra rear bumper but leaning towards just stick ing the GT that's on there. Will also save me about $1200 by sticking with the factory stuff. Decisions, decisions...

I have the LMR 2" cowl hood as well, just bought it a few months ago for my '88. Seems to fit quite well, it's very sturdy/well built, and it appears that it won't need much "body work" at all to allow for a nice paint finish. I also have a 25 year old Cervini's hood on my '86 and it has been a great hood, but I really like the subtle 2" cowl and steel construction.

I think 1.5” - 2.5” max looks best on street/road race Foxes. Anything bigger is too much. Bigger cowls only look good on drag cars with huge rear tires & skinny’s up front. JMO

Here is my car literally 10 minutes before I removed the LMR 2” inch steel hood. Hood was not latched in the photo. Was on car about 10 years. Had to go to a 2.5 inch 95 Cobra R hood to clear my 351
I paid $600 for them to paint my hood. Now it’s $2800 to prep and paint the new fiberglass hood and blend the fenders. Ouch.

I liked the 2 inch. Was subtle cowl without being over done.
