about 2 years ago, one of the hard lines on my power steering rack rusted through and began leaking, so i bought a refurbished one from napa.
it was an original ford part, and was perfectly fine up until about a month ago, the rubber boots started to rip at some point, and started to drip fluid here and there.... as of last week, both of the boots are completely torn, and i have no power steering fluid.
my question is, are there some sort of seals that are replaceable? i put the rack on/tie rods myself, and i can take it all off to replace it again, but i just dont know if this is fixable, or if the answer is another rack, even though its only been driven on this rack for about 15,000 miles in the last 2 years (no auto x'ing or heaving driving) :crying:
i dont know if this makes any difference, but the car is a 91, and it has stock 2000 gt springs with half a coil cut. it has 255/40/17's with about a 2 finger width wheel gap, so the control arms are almost perfectly horizontal with the ground, maybe about an inch too low if anything, so i dont think the boots ripped because of the front being too low. could this happen just because the boots were cheap rubber to begin with?
i apologize for writing so much, thankyou for reading
