Ive been trying to get a good idea on how to attack this project, before my car is half way apart and i need some unexpected widget. Ive read two sites. The PITB side and the "its the easiest thing in the world" side. That said, i see that Corral has about +500 threads dealing with the inner tie rods. So for the sake of time is there any hints or tips to attacking this project? Im sure the bulk of the project is straight forward but im more worried about the tiny things that you dont ever read about. Like rivets, pins, screws and one time use things that need to get replaced.

Also this is getting done on the car in my sig.

They're easy, if you have the right tools.

Buy an inner tierod tool set, and the job is cake. Harbor Freight sells a halfway decent set for $50.

Remember that it is recommended that you get an alignment after replacing inner or outer tie rod ends.

I used the big long socket inner tie rod tool and I thought it was a pain simply because it was tough to get any leverage on it.
If you rent the tool, I'd say use it for loosening and final tightening. The rest of the work is better handled by an adjustable crescent wrench ( that opens to at least an inch )

The hex ends of the ITR's aren't true so you won't really find a specific wrench size to fit on it ( at least that's how it was the few times i've done it )

I used an open end wrench to remove the inner tie-rods. It was close to a 1-1/4". Keep the rack in the car to remove them as once you remove it you really don't have a way to back the rack other than a pipe wrench. Other than that it is pretty straight forward. No matter what you do as far a counting threads and all use MFE's article or just take it to an alignment shop.

One other note, if there is any PS fluid in the boots I would suggest just replacing the rack.
