Well i purchased a lightly used Cobra short block off a friend, unfortunatly my car is a 98 with a aluminum block and his is a iron block, there are a couple of things that are different about the motor and i want to make sure it's a 4v motor and not a 2v(< a lot of motors go in and out of his shop, not that he would screw me).I only paid $150 for the motor so i'm sure i got a deal, the car only had 42k when it was pulled for a forged set up

Also will there be any issues with assembly? I have to put all my 98 stuff on this short block?

well seeing 4-valve 4.6's have never had an iron block (except termi's) i think you should leave that one alone

99s and some 01s had the teksid (Italian foundry) aluminum block, most 01s had the WAP (domestic foundry) block also aluminum. Only iron 4v is the 03/04 and would be easy to tell as it has forged H beam manley rods. All other iron blocks are 2v I believe.

as discussed on SVTP, the lack of 6 bolt mains says it's def not a cobra block...and the termi's were not the only 4v iron block, the navi's had them too, but not likely to confuse that for a cobra shorblock...
