The tach doesn't seem to read or work right. Is there anything I can do. Someone told me the tach is getting the wrong signal.
Do you have any other aftermarket ignition components other than the distributor?

Yes, I have the distributor, coil, and box.
We're running the stock tach in our '94 off the MSD 6AL.
Don't seem to have any accuracy issues, however MSD makes a tach adapter that I HAD expected to use.
This piece is supposed to correct any compatability issues with different styles/brands of tachs and your ignition box.
Call the MSD tech line and talk to them about it.

BTW, the wire running to your tach should be coming off the box and not from your distributor or coil.

There are two types of adapter. One for points/OEM Ignition modules with white wire and another for magnetic trigger systems. Mu box has the white wire, but I don't use it. Does this mean I need the one for magnetic trigger systems? It is MSD-8920.

you shouldnt need a tach adapter.

Well, I guess I have to check the wiring. It just doesn't seem to read right. Sometimes the tach needle just shoots high. Maybe there is something causing this thing to spike.

I found this in the adapter manual

"If your tachometer doesn’t work correctly after installing an MSD Ignition Control, always try to connect the tach’s trigger wire directly to the tach output of the Ignition. If the tach still registers incorrectly, install this Tach Adapter."

Maybe I don't have the wirng directly to the output.
