Are you sure you stripped the pan and not the plug?

How do you guys strip out the oil pan bolt lol.... Finger tight and snug down with wrench

Get the dorman repair bolt and tap the pan.. Or get a gasket for the plug.. Other than that it's replace pan

 

Ive yet to really #### with it, when i had the car in the air it was dripping from the drain plug area. I am going to get a time sert kit and call it fixed for now

 

Go to your local parts store, and get a self tapping oversize (tell them you need a single oversize, they'll know what you mean) and put it in instead of messing with a time sert.

 

Just get the self tapping one or just tap it with a tap/die kit like ppl do when they install a supercharger/turbo feed line. Lots of grease to catch the shavings.

 

I don't like the idea of tapping the drain hole larger while its mounted to the engine, its probably going to leave metal chips inside the pan.

I'd go with one of the rubber expanding plugs, they work ok.

But as the other guys said, take a close look at the threads on the plug, if they looked rounded down a new plug may be good enough, just don't be Superman when tightening it.

 

Hmm ill have to see if its just the plug, I will for sure be alot more careful

 

IIRC the spec is 15-19 ft-lb, which is not very much force at all.
