How would you guys fix a stripped oil pan.

So i cross threaded my new dorman oil pan at some point :livid: and i am dripping a bit of oil from the plug. I will be changeing my oil pan later on when i add a upr k but i am looking for a fix so i do not be that asshat that drips oil at the strip. so far this is what my google search has found and im looking for more input on what to do.

Go to your local parts store, and get a self tapping oversize (tell them you need a single oversize, they'll know what you mean) and put it in instead of messing with a time sert.

Just get the self tapping one or just tap it with a tap/die kit like ppl do when they install a supercharger/turbo feed line. Lots of grease to catch the shavings.

I don't like the idea of tapping the drain hole larger while its mounted to the engine, its probably going to leave metal chips inside the pan.

I'd go with one of the rubber expanding plugs, they work ok.

But as the other guys said, take a close look at the threads on the plug, if they looked rounded down a new plug may be good enough, just don't be Superman when tightening it.
