My uncle had a f-150 with a 5.0 in it. He had 450,000 on it when he sold it and never had a valve cover off it.

It will last until it leaves you stranded. I had 350,xxx on one that sounded like a sewing machine. I never could kill it but it didn't like the guy i sold it to. Died within days. I think of a broken heart. I loved that thing. We went everywhere together. Then I lucked into a couple other 5 liters and she was sold. Poor girl.

I've got a little over 243,000 on mine. Still running, but I know it's tired.

301k on my stock shortblock. (I did a E6-to-E7 head swap @ ~250k.) It was using a quart of oil every 500-miles, smoked a little when you got on it - but other than that, it ran fine...

My original coupe's 302 siad bye-bye at 135k. Drove it home 20 miles from the track with a spun bearing, tore it down, machined it, built it back up into a 306..... the sold it a year later. >:p

My first 90 gt had 249,xxx when I sold it and it was still laying down mid 13's at the track with just a few bolt on's. Sold it not sure how long it made it with the new owner. I wouldn't suggest running at the track with that kinda mileage I was only 16 at the time lol

I was in an airport limo a few years ago with probably the same engine. The car looked very well worn so I looked at the odometer and it read 998km. So that's well over 600k miles. I'm sure the fact it ran on propane and did plenty of highway work didn't hurt. I think Abdul & Rajesh worked 12 hours each but the car probably worked 24 hours a day.

If you search around, there's a lot of information about a woman who had a Stang with 600,000 miles on it. Perhaps that establishes one end of the spectrum.

You never know --- well cared for and maintained, cars/engines can last a long time. The record holder is this guy -- Irv Gordon's 1966 Volvo P1800 is probably going to turn over 3.0 MILLION miles any time now. Last I spoke to him -- it had the head off at 700,000 miles. They did a valve job - but the bottom end was solid so they left it alone. Repaints - yes. Clutches - several. Transmission rebuilds - one or 2. But the bottom end has 3 million miles and the head has 2.3 million miles. He follows the factory's service recommendations - all service done with Volvo parts. I think he's been getting parts for free since he turned over 2.0 million miles back around 2002 - Volvo gave him a new car for that feat. Not sure what they'll do for 3.0mm.
