I have a 96 Cobra in which I bought the 2001 Mach 460 for with 6 disc in dash changer. I also bought a wiring harness that connects to the back of the radio using one plug that is attached to a piece that has 2 plugs which connect to the existing adapters. I was curious because on the back of the 2001 radio there is an extra two slots for some sort of plugs. What connects to these? One of them was labeled amp. but none of my existing plugs fit. When I hook the first plug up and power the radio on the radio works fine but the cd doesn't do anything.

Do I need to buy another adapter harness? What happens when I try to put a cd in it is telling me there is a cd error. It won't let me load any cds cause it says all slots full. There aren't any cds in the player. Is this a common problem or is it something to do with one of those harnesses? Any imput is greatly appreciated. I'm getting ready to throw the car off a frigen cliff...

There are 3 large plugs and 1 single wire plug that are on the back of the CD6 stereos.. 2 of the Big ones are used only.

The Middle Set of 20 Pins is used to attach a CD Changer.

It should work fine with that you have.

A few of us just finished a Tech article that Chris will post up on how to hook up Speed Sensitive Volume in that model radio as well.

There is only one plug that I have an adapter for. The other 2 I'm not using. Is this why the cd player will not work or is it something else? It won't let me load any CD's into the changer. Is there a trick to getting the cds to load?

Possibly, I will have to dig up the designation for each wire to see whats going on.. I am not sure what the other plugs do exactly.

I would think you would need both plugs since the 01's use it as well.

If you could do that for me I would greatly appreciate it.

I may be reading this wrong, but did you find a way to hook up speed sensitive volume on a 2001 CD6 Radio? If so, I'd like a copy of that tech article. This is the only thing I DONT like about my radio. It would be great to have that.

Thanks,
Eric
