Yeah, those things are pretty gay looking. I think they are put on with the same 3M adhesive tape that they use for the side scoops and hood scoops on 01+ cars.

You may risk taking paint off or leaving the adhesive tape on if you try to take it off. That stuff is on there pretty tight, so you might need a body shop to help out.

Ask your local Ford dealership's maintenance shop for more information about the strip and how to get it off.

The trick is to get them hot, VERY HOT. If you try it cold you could damage the paint as stated above. Get a razor blade and if you can, try and separate the moulding from the tape first ( leaving the 3M tape on the car in place ). Then heat the crap out of the tape with a heat gun or a hairdryer. You should be able to start on one side, and roll the tape off. done this on countless emblems, side moldings, etc. Tell us how it goes.

i dont know how that would do. its sounds very risky to me.. i mean you do have a 99 like me so id be cautious before i went to removing things because you might not can tell it but the paint is almost 5 years old so u gotta think about if u did remove the strip, will it leave a nice, fresh strip of yellow paint in its place... because that little strip of paint has never seen the light of day. of course it might be just fine.
