I don't have much experience with the y heads, but the Seniors can flow 300+cfm on the intake after being in the right hands.

I would probably only switch if you had the seniors ported, the world heads are pretty bad of out the box with casting abnormalities.

 

Gt40y's only flow about 214 slighty better then windsor jrs and gt40ps. Really only great for 302 based applications. They can be hand or cnc ported just ike anything else but Im not sure of what you can make them do Im sure there plenty of room for better numbers. There not bad for what there intented for when they were made I like mine.

 

Humm, thats not a good start, lol. I didnt know that they had issues out the box, i had always thought that they were a decent set of heads ya know. i can never get really lucky ya know, just a little lucky, lol.

 

Sell both sets and buy a set of AFR205's.

I posed the same question and was told that the Sr's have more room to grow. They flow pretty well with some bowl blending, but work much better on a bigger cube motor. I think you would see some gains from them, but there are much better choices out there.......

 

Roger, Iunderstand that there are better choices but the thing is that I have these sitting in my garage and they were free, so would it be worth swapping the heads? I want to say that the guy that gave me these took them off of a 408 and he was using a 351 super victor single plane and an AED 1050 but swapped the heads to the man o war aluminums, I cant really remember how well it ran in that setup. i was just thinking that if he was running them on a 408 that they would run a little better than my 40's

 

Are they cast iron?

 

Yes they are cast and that is one thing that I dont like but if they flow alot more I would be willing to accept the weight you know. Sorry for the delay in the reply, I was in a metting till damn near midnight last night.

 

sell both sets and the afr 205 and get some canfields..lol. i would use the windors sr heads over the gt40 heads anyday
